Re: 3800 S/C series 3
Isn't the 3800 getting canned soon anyways?
What's the difference between a series 2 and a series 3? I figured the blown 3800 in the MC/Imp and current pontiacs where the same with just different boost settings.

Difference is the III gets the Eaton supercharger, which is a much improved unit. Pontiac wanted to set the GP apart from the MC and Impala, plus it had a redesigned car coming out two years before the Chevys, so it got the engine exclusively. Plus it makes no sense to sell Pontiac as a "total performance" brand, yet give it the same power as a MC and Impala.
Plus I would imagine there is a peice cost difference between the Series IV and Series V blower that makes it more attractive for Chevy. Also keep in mind the though the 260HP GP sounds nice, the TQ managment software makes it slower (depending on how the computer feels), than the older cars.
The MC and Impala are getting redesigned in 06, and accorss the board for the W-body/Mid-Lux, the 3800 will be dropped for the 3900/5.3L.
