330HP Mustang will be out soon (Shelby GT-H)
Re: 330HP Mustang will be out soon (Shelby GT-H)
Talk about going to be hard to find, only 500. They will never be available, anybody trying to rent one will have a better chance at winning a lottery than finding one sitting on a Hertz lot.

I think its pretty cool. I would rent one if there was one available. I haven't driven one of the new ones yet. I also think its cool that they will be selling them after they get 16-18K miles on them.
Re: 330HP Mustang will be out soon (Shelby GT-H)
I would certainly rent it if it were available... But I don't think I would go to hertz just for it because it will never be available...
I don't see how this is so much real help.

It was 1971 and the #'s were gross.

Now to retort some other points brought up:
Coming from Mustangs myself, it's still funny and has always amazed me the absolute obsession with horsepower numbers on this site over all else, even to the point of being absurd. Posting that a 2002 ZL1 Camaro got 600 horsepower is like me posting that I installed a "cammer 5.0" into a Mustang, therefore Mustangs had higher horsepower than Camaro. Examples like that would even get me laughed off of Mustang sites. We're talking walk in, turn key, factory warranty cars anyone can get at a competitive price, not a multi thousand dollar aftermarket build up...... but anything goes to get those horsepower bragging rights, huh?
It's also funny seeing people slam things about the Mustang that they would wet themselves over if Chevy had done it with the Camaro. If GM had said they planned to offer 500 special LS2 Camaros for rent at Avis, there wouldn't be a peep about "gimmicks"..... and speaking of gimmicks, how many "special 2002 ZL1s" were there again?
No it isn't 1998. The 4.6 V8 made 225 horsepower that year. The 2006 version makes 300. Seems logical to expect the 2007 to make 330. GM's 5.3 makes only 300 horsepower, and it's a bigger engine. So your point is exactly......???

Sure the GTO has more horses and is quicker than a Mustang GT. It also lists for nearly $7,000 more sells roughly 25% of the numbers Mustang GT posts, and is on a different level in the market. GTO buyers tend to be older, have more money, are less likely to be "backyard mechanics", and (oddly) tend to have families and more likely to have a 2nd car than Mustang GT buyers.
Bottom line, Ford has created a good marketing move & instantly collectable cars. Pretty good idea that GM might consider.
It's 1998 horsepower? 600 horse ZL1 Camaros? GTO have more horsepower? Nothing but a gimmick? All this over Ford making a special Mustang GT with the Shelby name avalible for rent at Hertz?
I feel like I'm at the "Three Stooges" school of responses at times.
