300c's rolling off the assembly line.....in Austria.
Re: 300c's rolling off the assembly line.....in Austria.
The 300C Sedan and Touring (wagon) models are now assembled on the same production line that builds the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chrysler Voyager and Grand Voyager.
The Touring has essentially the same body as the US market Dodge Magnum but has the 300 sedan’s nose, dashboard and interior trim.
Chrysler Group and Magna Steyr invested € 30.7 million ($US37.2 million) to add the necessary tooling and body shop stations required to add the 300C to Austrian production. This is in addition to recent enhancements to the plant’s body and paint shops, plus significant production line flexibility improvements that were made with the new vehicles in mind.
Incorporating a third shift, the new Chryslers are built in the same body shop as the Grand Cherokee. All Chrysler vehicles at the plant share the same trim, chassis and final lines. About 2,000 employees work on the American vehicles, 600 of whom were hired additionally for the 300C.

Does this bother anyone? I would rather not see our cars built in countries that are working against our efforts! I can remember some ppl bitching about the GTO's being built in Australia! But at least the Aussies got our back, the germans certainly Do Not!I think austria is german ...No?
I can also remember, right after Slick ***** put his .02 into the Nafta thing, there were 3 big plant closing "Announcements" made in N.J., one the Edison Ford plant, Frigidaire being another, the other I can't think of the name, off hand, but there was another. Sunshine maybe thats it! All of these didn't actually close until long after he was out, and G. Dubya got in, but like I said the announcement of their closing was shortly after he did that. No one ever speaks of this, am I the only one to remember this, or what? Maybe the press is blinded to this, by the fact that they really liked Bill, and are bias here as well! I tried to look up the specifics of what he did there, but I suck as a researcher! I also do remember an article in the home news about it costing N.J. 250,000 jobs. As I uderstand it he made it easy for companies to go over seas, again I don't know the secifics on it though, so don't hold me to it!

Not until the stigma of it "not being a real BMW" is eliminated. We will see.

Its already happening to an extent. But as i said, there has been a stigma attached to it.

I understand your points. But it seems that commercialism (specifically corporations) have powerful forces to move things the way that suits those corporations best.
And in about 20 years, nobody will know who was on who's side, and the entire world will become one global community. Distinctions between countries will be no more different than the difference between states or the difference between provinces.
