The 300, especially the 300C, is a step in the right direction. The styling, while certainly distinctive, doesn't do it for me. The 300C certainly requires consideration if you are in the market for a sedan, and much of that is due to it's motor and drivetrain layout. Although the base 300 is only around $22,900, it won't be able to get out of it's own way with a mere 190HP to move 3711 pounds. I suppose the 250HP Limited and Touring models are better. The 300 series are good cars for their market, and I would say the 300C is a great car for it's class.

Besides little problems for me such as the white faced gauges which I cannot stand, the car suffers from the fact that it is ugly and has too many doors. That is why I stated that I would much sooner take a GTO over the 300C. Nobody that really wants a GTO is going to consider the 300C, and likewise nobody that really wants a 300C is going to consider a GTO. The two cars are basically too different. Granted you may have a few shoppers that think that they are considering both models, but in reality it comes down to whether or not you want two or four doors.

Wrong on the 1st point, but right on the 2nd. I can consider both cars easily. Yet, as you said, it depends on if you want 2 or 4 doors, and where you are in life.

I am a near 40 male who is a bit demanding of his car's performance. I travel alot, sometimes as much as 450 miles each way, so not only is performance mandatory, but so is a level of comfort. I want a car that appeals to me in looks, has a well made and thought out interior, and is reasonably roomy. Rear wheel drive is mandatory, and price is an issue. Wife doesn't like to drive (public transportation junkie), so I only need one car.

I currently drive my Z28 here in Cali-Nevada-Arizona & my restored Thunderbird Super Coupe is at my sister's in Phoenix because it's easier for my elderly mom to get in & out of (my sister also owns a 4th gen Camaro). The family also gathers there, so the roominess of the Bird comes in handy.

With that as a baseline, Say I have a full sized family (4 people) and we take trips over long distances (a normal event out here in the west). That leaves my options at a used BMW, a used Lincoln LS V8, or CTS. The 300C covers all these bases, and it's brand new, vs used.

On the other hand, I have a family, but we rarely all travel long distance together. I don't need a massive trunk, but I still do need comfortable room for 4. That leaves GTO and a used 3 series.

At the moment I'm closer to the latter, so naturally I'd prefer a GTO. But if I had a second kid that was almost as old as my son & I had a wife that didn't get car sick, I'd be going for the 300C.

Same person, same demands, slightly different situations, 2 different cars.

Just a quick note....the 5.7L Hemi has 16 valves vice 24.
In my defense all the info I posted in my previous post I got off Chrysler's website www.chrysler.com

Is the Chrysler 300C overrated?
$33,000 for a GTO, $33,000 for a 300C or $30,000 for a Dodge Magnum R/T. If I could only choose between these three I'd take the GTO hands down, the other two are too damn ugly.

So, yeah I'd definitely get a GTO before I'd get a 300C, that's for sure.

The 300C is definitely not overrated...

...but V6-engined 300 models might be.

If you don't need the space, the Infiniti G35 is a far more convincing performance car than a comparably priced 300 Touring or Limited. Personally, I find the G35 to be far superior to a CTS or even a BMW 330i.

In any case, the 300 isn't a flash-in-the-pan like the PT Cruiser. There is really substance behind the product, and as demand tappers off there will be new LX cars to pick up the slack. Just as the demand for the 300C cools, the Charger is going to take off.
