Question Is the 300C overrated?

it seems to be the talk of the town so to speak. yet ive seen a grand total of THREE driving around my fair city of many thousands of rich yuppies that chomp at the bit to get their hands on the latest and greatest. I personally dont think the car is all that its cracked up to be and that its sales (while impressive) are like that of the first year PT Cruiser. When those first came out wasnt there like a 1 year waiting list to get one? It sold so well because it was different. it wasnt your typical fridge on wheels. it had class, it had style, but most importantly it was affordable.

I believe the 300C has most of those (albeit i dont like its looks) but i do believe its just another crazy fad. people compare the current Impala to the new 300. which is fine, seems they share the same market segment. Ive also seen around the net where people think that the 300 will destroy the sales of the Impala. i heardily disagree with that. the impala is a bread and butter car. it works great as one. provides what the customer wants without anything they dont. i see about 50-100 of these everyday. even on days where i drive maybe 5-10 miles. they are literally EVERYWHERE. why? if the 300C is so much better, how come ive seen 3? its not that it doesnt stick out, is it because of some sort of waiting list? i dunno.

i guess my point here was to say that i forsee the 300 to do exactly what the PT did. it started HUGE and then died off only to have a few updates and cool new features added before an untimely demise. thats the way i see it, now someone please point out my mistakes so i can see the car in a better light.

Impalas have been out since forever, Chrysler 300's have been out for two months. Ive been in both and the 300's build quality surpasses anything impala has been. The fact that ive seen 12 300's and one gto proves this car is definatly doing well and will for awhile.

Its the only american made (Mostly) rwd sedan that is whithin reach of your average american. And its got eh' hemaih (hemi)

let me break it to you gently. 300 IS the new bread and butter car for Chrysler.

I know what you are talking about not seeing a lot. I didn't understand why everyone was saying that until one day. I drove from one side of Olathe to the other and say 3, and this wasn't on Santa Fe. Plus I have seen them here and there every once in a while. I think it is just a matter of time. I know I have been by a few Chrysler dealers and have not seen very many. I still like the styling and interior. If I had the money I would spend the extra to get the 300C over the Impala SS, but I am just a guy who love the American, V8, RWD sedan.

Is the 300C over rated? Nope, Its a great car at a great price. I sure wish Chevy had a comparable Impala/Caprice to compete with it.

i wonder how it would look if the front roof was dropped a little with a shorter windshield

I do think the 300C is over-rated. As I posted on another thread, it lost bad in a direct comparo with a CTS in the latest Road&Track.

Didnt they compare a V6 Chrysler 300 to a pretty well, if not fully loaded CTS? I think the CTS in that comparison came up costing around $6,000 more than the Chrysler. I'll have to dig up the magazine to find the article.

I dont compare the CTS and 300. The CTS seems like it should compare with something like a 3 series Beemer. GM doesnt have a car like the 300. Affordable, RWD, V8, full sized sedan.

Its certainly not overrated, it seems to be a quality built car with a shockingly quick performance model. Like Z28Wilson said in another thread, Chrysler has raised the bar on the competition and its up to Ford, GM, and the rest to respond to it.

I do agree with the point of it selling so well because its brand new. Nothing like it has come out in awhile so its gonna sell like hotcakes the first few years. However, I highly doubt its going to "die off". I think sales will steady themselves out once the hoopla is over, but I think it will still move in great numbers. Like morb|d said, its Chrysler's new bread and butter car, its not going anywhere.

Now all GM has to do is get a response to this car out, SOONER not later.

That is because the CTS is in a whole nother league. Base CTS is $30K MSRP base 300 is $23K. 300 is targeted between the Impala and CTS/STS

I think your just a little upset 87camracer, Chrysler just came in and kicked GM square in it's slow moving ***. Maybe this shot here will get GM up and going and put out some damn product that will get my heart a beating.
I never thought I'd like a DCX product till riding/driving in the new 300C. Well I don't like it... I love it!!!.

Will we ever see a RWD Chevy sedan the masses can afford??

Or will we just see an update of the current Impy/MCSS for another 8 years??
