Saw it last night after my sister gave it glowing reviews. It actually was good.
It also (unlike the last one) seems to acknowledge that old muscle cars really are more powerful than today's tuner cars (a Challenger R/T hemi actually smoked an Eclipse, and the only way the EVO8 beat a Yenko Camaro was by forcing it off the road.
Both the Challenger, and especially the Camaro, end up having alot of screen time the final 3rd of the movie.
What's really funny was the "disclaimer" immediately after the movie, but before the credits.

Haven't seen it yet, but hope to. I doubt my wife wants to see it, so I'll probably have to bargain for a night or afternoon out
Better be worth it ... No video game hyperspace race sequences please. Let's have the real thing this time around.

The movie is actually good (although it does have its fair share of unreality though) but i loved the fact that they gave the American muscle cars credit and acknowledged the fact that the roided up mitsibishis couldnt come close to taking the fire breathing v8s.
to that challenger and
to that camaro!
camarocane=the disclaimer he is talking about is right after the movie ends and says that all the vehicle actions were stunts performed by professionals and yada yada yada.....

Few days ago I picked up a copy of some Import magazine - they did testing of the cars involved in the filming of 2F2F....
Well, those cars were surely modified. However, with all the extra weight the Supra did the quarter mile in 14.5 @ 95 mph, Mitsubishi got 15.3, and so on...
The fastest car of the bunch was Honda S2000, which hit the quarter mile in 13.9 seconds.
Pretty hard to believe? Some cars were heavily modified (such as the Supra having a huge turbo put in place of stock TT), but I guess the body cladding, fake NOS bottles and Video displays added pounds...
Just thought I share :-)
P.S. Forgot to mention that the Supra had 90,000+ miles on its odometer. Reviewers said it felt beat up and suspension let its age be felt.

.
Most of the cars had a lot of extra weight added for show, so I'm thinking this is why they performed the way they did.
It is still very hard to believe that EVO, which is a mid 13's car, would run all the way in the 15's, even if they added 500 lbs of equipment (and I doubt they added THAT much).
Next time you see kids talking about 10 second cars in 2F2F, just let them know that most of them didnt' even get into 13's.
That Camaro, btw, did 13.7 if I remember correctly. There, beat all of them, even Supra!

Can we please stop talking about that silly stupid movie. It's because people give this movie attention (as well as the first one)That law enforcement / gov. are out for blood. Towns like Schaumburg IL used to have a small underground street racing community. Fast and the Stupid came out and then all of a sudden every guy who ever owned a FWD econmy car put a wing on it and came out "racing". Result, If I decide to get on my car in that town I coud be given a 10K fine and have my car impounded. Thoes ****ing awful movies have done more to hurt our hobby in the 4 hrs it takes to watch them than all attempts by all otheres in the past 20 years. Dumb A$$ movies like this, marketed to dumb A$$ kids will make it harder to modify and even buy the types of cars we love. DONT!!!! see the movie DONT talk about the movie DONT buy yout kids 2F2F rip off toy cars.. Pretend it doesnt exist at all. It will do us all a favor.

Sounds like you are blaming a movie for expanding the small racing community you mentioned to include a group of cars you're not crazy about. I don't know about the town you mentioned, but in SoCal, Oakland, and West Penn, you were always subject to get your car imponded for street racing, in addition to being thrown in jail, pay a large fine, and have your insurence jacked up for the next 5 years. "Fast and the Furious" didn't do that.
I'm sure the same thing was said when alot of other racing movies came out in the past dating to the 50s by the older crowd. The only difference is now we're the "older crowd".
