2015 Colorado Reveal

Re: 2015 Colorado Reveal
Looks better than I thought. I still don't like how the glass on the rear of the cab sweeps up at the bottom. It makes the lines between the top of the bed and the cab look funky IMO.
Also for the lights I was hoping for something more Silveradoish. I'm not a fan of "car style" head lights on the front of a truck.
I'm hoping the Canyon looks more like it's big brother.

I too was hoping for a Silverado-esque grille.
Based on the nose teaser shots, it does appear the Canyon will look more like the Sierra.

Re: 2015 Colorado Reveal
Interesting that the 2015 Colorado doesn't use the global trucks frame. I guess that is why it took so long for this truck to come to market.

It was done on the Silverado too, although no as dramatically.
Instead of seeing this as a rehashed truck from another market, though, it's more accurate to look at it as a scaled-down Silverado, as few of the chassis components are shared with the global truck. The frame is about 40 percent lighter than the global Colorado's frame; the new unit is fully boxed and uses liberal amounts of high-strength steel. Comparing crew cab to crew cab, the Colorado is 900 pounds lighter, 5 inches narrower, 3 inches lower, and 16 inches shorter than the Silverado. The Colorado will use a coilover front and leaf-spring rear, and Duralife disc brakes with ABS. It will have EPS and an impressive 41-foot turning radius.

Re: 2015 Colorado Reveal
One explanation may be that it's the largest the window glass could be due to crash test bars, fitting in the door, etc (look at how much the bottom of the cab/door kick in on the profile shots) so the outer body/lower window line had to be modified to hide the smaller glass? That's also why some rear windows in cars/suv's in the 90's only went halfway down, the glass wouldn't fit inside the door usually due to a wheel well cutout.

Re: 2015 Colorado Reveal
Good looking truck! I would rather have the torque of the new 4.3 vs. the horsepower of the 3.6. I hope the "truck tuned" 3.6 gets heavy duty timing chains! I bet if this truck is a good seller it will get more variations in the future. I wonder if they will be able to get a 25mpg hwy rating on this new truck?

Re: 2015 Colorado Reveal
That would have been cool, but it probably would have cost more than the V6. After people freaking out that the last Colorado had a 5cyl. (even though it was as powerful or more than the competition) I don't think Chevy wanted the negative push back they would get from their top engine being a 4cyl., even with a turbo.

Re: 2015 Colorado Reveal
I posted all the info on another forum I like and it's getting pretty positive responses (classic GM truck site) but of course, several have already complained "why isn't the 5.3L going to be an option?"
