Couple observations...

-Torana looks like a Vega/Monza
-When I hear Fiesta, I think of the Ford Festiva
-The only think cool about a Aveo SS is that it could get to the cliff it needs to be driven off faster.

You could well be right, Branden.

Torana was slightly before my time but I loved the look of the 5-door hatch especially the V8 only A9X. It was powered by a Holden 5.0L V8, which, in race trim developed around 380 bhp. The earlier versions had weak diffs and transmissions. However, with some racing development, it ended up being a racer's tour de force.

Haven't we come a long way since then.. and thank God for the GM LSX!

This is from Dewar's webchate the other day:

Question: Could you shed any details on the new Aveo? There has been spyshots of it doing laps around the Nurburgring which has me intrigued. Will there be a SS or Sport model of the Aveo?

Brent Dewar: We are totally geeked about the nextgen Aveo. It will be well positioned in the segment. Performance, packing and fuel economy will be impressive. Great design for accessories and some performance models. We think there should be a little bit of Corvette in every Chevy we make. It is in our DNA.

He's speaking to Gen Y, and I think that's just far out and groovy

If he would've just said that, I would have been happy

I'm actually looking forward to seeing what they put together. Dewar's description of it? Not so much.

He's talking about a future lighter version of Camaro on Alpha, not the current Zeta Camaro.

Alpha may also get the new 3L DI Turbo motor instead. While the engine has a higher pricetag, the improved powerband and the additional fuel economy will be important to alpha's future.

That would make a really nice package. Anyone seen that YouTube video of the SHO with only a tune going 12.75 in 1/4 mile?

I haven't seen the video but I was guessing they could push mid 12's out of it with only a tune. I can't wait to see what some of the guys can do with that car.

Link? Only one i found was of one running 13.1. Must be pushing 440+ for it to be running 12.7's.

I saw a black one in person yesterday. It made the Grand Cherokee parked next to it look small. This car is freaken HUGE. Which makes the performance even that more impressive.

Like i've said about 30x now, this engine in a light-weight car like the mustang would flat out own. Forget the 5.0L, gimme the 3.5 Ecoboost.

It would be nice to see something similar from GM.

I am kinda surpised the 3.0L DI is not offered in the Camaro.

I wonder if the 3.0L would get better or worse MPG numbers that the 3.6 in the Camaro.
