2014 XTS to get 410HP TT V6

2014 Cadillac XTS gets 410-hp twin-turbo V6

Hmm... now that we know an Epsilon II based vehicle can handle that much power, I wonder if there is any chance of this engine going into a Buick Regal.

Losing 10hp isn't a huge deal, the 61ft-lbs of torque is quite the reduction though. Probably still a nice powertrain for the application.

What are the odds that this will come with AWD as an option? I could see torque steer being an issue in FWD but AWD should take care of that.

AWD is standard with the TTV6. Its not available with FWD.

Or if it weren't for the SS sedan, an Impala SS to go up against the SHO.

FWD drive cars have had a bad history with high HP and torque ratings. The transmissions have been a known weak spot. GM had issues with the LS4 in the Impala SS and Grand Prix GXP, and they produced well under this TT V6's power.

Edit: Now I see it's only available with AWD, not sure if that solves the problem, but I'm sure there's a reliability reason why GM didn't offer FWD with this engine.

Technically, if you can make AWD reliable, the same car with FWD should be just as reliable (assuming both use transversely mounted or longitudinally mounted engines/transmissions).

I think it has more to do with having so much power at the front wheels (hello torque steer, and traction control) than reliability.

It will be interesting to see what other applications can benefit from LF3. I guess this setup in the XTS is not enough to be a XTS-V.
