2012 Impala gets only one engine and it is rated at 302HP
Re: 2012 Impala gets only one engine and it is rated at 302HP
Has anyone driven a 2012 yet?
At my new job, our fleet of vehicles will be replaced next year and I am thinking about pushing for 2012 Impalas. 300+hp and 30 mpg hwy plus the room & comfort will be hard to beat. I have already seen several on the roads with the very, very minor trim changes the 2012 got.
In my previous job we had some Impala 9C1s and they made decent police vehicles, but the transmission was the weak link and hopefully that isn't a problem anymore with the new 6-speed.

They seem to be rather popular here in the Central IL area. I can go outside right now and see 7 of them sitting in driveways up the road. Hell, one driveway has 2 of them in it. They are rather bland looking but I'm guessing the people who drive them just want something affordable, big, and decent on gas. Not everyone cares about perfect interiors and styling, especially when the primary use of the thing is to haul a couple of kids around that are going to destroy the interior anyway.

I have a new Impala as a rental right now. Fit and finish are very nice, its quite comfortable and it has decent pickup. Its a nice car.
I only have 2 main gripes about it. Visibility is **** poor, I was more comfortable driving my Firebird. The other is the HVAC controls; the little tabs to adjust the temp suck. I was driving into work this morning and went to adjust the temp down, hit a bump and dropped the temp all the way to cold.

Poor visibility? In an Impala? You sure you aren't driving a Malibu?
I've never heard that complaint about the Impala. It has a huge greenhouse compared to a lot of cars out today...

Re: 2012 Impala gets only one engine and it is rated at 302HP
Rearward visibility sucks. The trunk is too high. I've had malibu and impala rentals within the last year, and I felt the malibu had better rear visibility.
Re: 2012 Impala gets only one engine and it is rated at 302HP
Lol yup, I think the prancing Impala on the dash gives it away. There are times I just don't care whats behind me because of how bad I find the visibility. I also like to head check before changing lanes, which just isn't easy in an Impala.
Re: 2012 Impala gets only one engine and it is rated at 302HP
I drive an 01 impala right now, and it was way easier to "head check" in my old camaro I felt like. I dont like the impala much either, but its like that with all 4 door cars...
