wow it is true..

but not sure about reading between the lines..hope Cerberus is smart enough to get the products the U.S. wants.
Maybe this is the small car that Chrysler was shopping around for China to build? The Hornet or slingshot?

They are getting the Frontier not the Titan.

Some of you gues need to get your facts straight!

The next Titan will be a Nissan designed vehicle; the agreement is for Chrysler to build it; it simply is not a Dodge Ram with a Nissan badge on it as the title of the thread would lead one to think.

Same thing in referse for the small car - Chrysler gets a Nissan built small car that is dedigned by Chrysler.

On the other hand, Suzuki is getting the Nissan Frontier pickup re-badged for Suzuki.

Rob will the Nissan 5.6 DOHC be sticking around and if so will it be seeing some improvements, it was top of class in power when it came out but quickly has languished in light of the Toyota 5.7 and GM 6.2.

I don't know if the current engine will survive or not or even where the engines will come from. Hoewever, considering the amount of investment made in the engine plant, I would suspect that either it or something very similar will survive.

The press release did specifically mention multiple cab/bed configureations and multiple engine choices.

I see this as a good thing. The 09 Ram looks to be a REALLY NICE truck. With extra development money coming from Nissan, it will help out both companies.

All I can think of is its going to be built where the Ram is built I would figure the trucks going to share something.
Like the Vibe and Matrix..Frame and maybe engine will be done by Dodge? the rest of the truck will be Nissans design?

Is it possible that the new Titan will be a Nissan "styled" vehicle, but engineered and built by Dodge?

Only examination of the final product will truly answer that question - all I can say now is that is not what the full press release said.

Thats what I'm thinking, Nissan designed sheet metal and some interior, but the guts and structure will be Dodge.

That would be my guess. Especially if they're talking about mulitple cab and engine configurations, that's something Nissan couldn't swing when the pickup market was booming and they thought they'd sell 100k+ trucks. No way could they be doing their own multiple cabs & engines going into this kind of market.

Seems to me Nissan had two choices after the failure of the Titan: pack up and go home, realizing they couldn't compete in this shrinking and increasingly less profitable market. Or pay for some other manufacturer to put Nissan's body panels on their truck and cling to their meagre market share. Looks like they chose the latter.

Wrong.

Dodge will build Dodge engineered trucks with Nissan designed sheetmetal and interior. Think Ford Probe and Mazda MX-whatever. The Nissan part will only be skin deep.

Same for the Nissan engineered smal car for Chrysler. Think dodge Stealth and Mitsu 3000GT. The Chysler part will only be skin deep.

Nissan's super truck V8 went from being top HP with the worst mpg to tied for last in HP with the worst mpg. No wonder they just gave up.

Spoken exactly like someone who simply want's to bash the Titan and who would rather make assertions based on opinions.

You think I"m wrong...fine...at least I base my statemtns on facts and knowledge rather than unfounded assumptions.
