2011 Ford Ranger

I think it looks great inside and out. I think it is a big mistake not to sell this in North America, especially with the diesel.

I think it looks awesome inside and out. I can see why they think it might not do that well here due to its size. I wonder if this would have been the F-100?

Maybe we can get it as a Mazda. Though I'd much rather the Ranger's styling.

Actually comparing specs now, its about the size of current mid-size trucks. Its the size of a Colorado. (which is 5" narrower than the Tacoma and Dakota and almost 10" shorter than a crew cab Dakota).

With how positive Ford is in the publics' eye these days, I think it would have done pretty well. With the Dakota and Colorado about to go away, and the Tacoma getting long-in-tooth, a quality domestically branded offering like that would be a hit.

Maybe it's a pricing issue. I didn't read the article, but if it's not a lot cheaper than the multitude of full sizes we have here (which you can always find a deal on), maybe there wouldn't be many sales.

Tacoma sells 100k units a year, many at fullsize prices. Its also done better than Tundra every year. September sales: http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr/tms/d...ales_Chart.pdf
There are people out there that just want a smaller truck. Also, with half of the small/midsize market going away, those buyers have to go somewhere.

It looks like a Hilux.

. . . and that's not a bad thing.

Perhaps they will pull a Fiesta and sell it in Europe a year or so and then bring it to the states.

FYI if Ford does bring it to the US I would be very likely getting one.

My wife and I are some of those people, as is my co-worker, good friend, other good friend, other co-worker, etc., etc. Full size trucks are COMPLETE OVERKILL for about 90% of the people that own them. Our Tacoma tows the boat and picks up a scoop of dirt or mulch just fine. I have even carried a full pallet of landscaping rock (~2,000lbs.) home in it TWICE! Unless you are pulling a big camper, horse trailer, heavy construction equipment, etc. (the 10%) you don't NEED a fullsize, but you certainly may WANT one and that's why we build em. Doesn't mean others don't WANT a smaller truck that's easy to fit in the garage, park, gets good gas mileage, and still does 90% of the things a full size does.

I HATE Toyota, but my wife drives a Tacoma because it is the best small truck bar none.

That Ranger looks awesome and the turbo diesel has got my interest for sure! I think it might do well here like others have said.

Not a big fan of the front end. Looks like it has down syndrome.

Very interested in that diesel though.

That article says a 3,300lbs. payload capacity????? That must be a mistake. That is about double what I would expect it to be.

That is a crazy payload. That's up there with 3/4 ton pickups. I thought the Mahindra's 2600lbs capacity was way up there. I can't wait to see the towing capacity.

Lets see how the Equinox looking Colorado coming soon stacks up. (Also not to here though.)

Ugly, I'm actually glad Ford isn't bringing it here. Like the Diesel aspect though.

That's because Tundra is a POS.
