Which of course they give it disgustingly low numbers.

If we were comparing the non-sport models of these cars, I could see taking those numbers into consideration.

**** that stupid magazine, I hate them so much. They also only count only 1/4 mile ET and not MPH.

Had we used the no-lift shift feature built into the Cobalt SS, it would have been quicker than the Mazda through the quarter-mile, but our test procedure requires using the clutch pedal and lifting off the throttle to shift.
Amen brother! Something strange is going on around here, in a good way, and I like it!

Sport compacts for me are cars that you have to "live" with. That is, they eat up the hundreds of hours of drive time spent going to and from destinations of necessity and fun, carrying passengers, things, while still offering good gas mileage and the opportunity for spirited driving. They're daily drivers. For that, I'm not going to pick the crappiest car with the most go-fast goodies. For everything else, there's the bike--or God help me, not a sport compact.
I drove a GTI while car shopping. What a incredibly well built car. The body structure was like a bank vault and fit/finish/material quality was excellent. If the dealer would of been closer I'd of bought one myself.

I would agree with you completely except for one car.
I always thought the Neon SRT4 with the stock exhaust system sounded great for a 4 cylinder. The exhaust note was low & throaty.

My Solstice GXP is quiet. Too quiet. So I'm not sure would the car would sound like with a real exhaust system.

Remember. I said "great for a 4 cylinder".

And I do remember a LOT about those cars. I did quite a bit of final quality validation testing on the transmissions (NVT-850) in those cars. I have a TON of seat time in those cars.
