No I thought since it was going to be a similar size/replacing the current Impala that it would/should get V8 power in the SS. ANd I was hoping that it would get V6 that was close to 300HP so the competition would have to play major catch up.

Can we hope for COOLED front seats and heated rear seats?

Given that the LS4 won't have much of a purpose once the W-body is gone, I could see them putting it in the Malibu SS. A 6 speed manual is wishful thinking, maybe a 6 speed auto could show up eventually.

I'd say it's real. That exact picture was on the front page of the business section of this morning's Detroit Free Press, with GM cited as the picture source.

It does have the same angle as the CAD drawing that was out a few months ago, put it has very real looking materials.
I think it looks fantastic. Now the Aura's interior looks drab and boring...
I cant wait to see the actual car.
I dont expect a V8 in this car, but a 300hp 3.6 would be nice!! I also would expect the 6spd auto to be available in every model, 4 and 6cyls. I would also like to have the handling and ride that will top the best in class. Navigation and maybe Bluetooth? HID headlights? LED lighting as well maybe? In 4 years, GM has come a very long way with this one car.

The LS4 in the Malibu would be nice. It give it something no other midsize sedan has. Plus it gets almost the same mileage as the Aura 3.6L (Aura = 20/28 Impala SS = 18/28)

Very nice!
Reminds me of the Aura's interior, which I like alot.
I like this one better though.

It's pretty cool how you can actually watch GM's interiors set new benchmarks.

When I 1st sat in the current Grand Prix, it was one of the 1st that Bob Lutz had a hand in (though a very minimal one), and the interior was the best GM had at the time outside Cadillac. Then there was Lacrosse that set a new benchmark (and had a bit more of Lutz's influence). It wasn't very original, but it was very nicely done and very solid. The new GM truck interiors were done almost entirely on his watch, and now the new Malibu sets a new milestone.

Of course Bob Lutz didn't actually draw the interiors and pick the materials himself, but having a Chairman level guy running blocker for the people who do is letting them be creative & make great interiors that aren't watered down and cheapened by others in the pipeline who have made an entire lifelong career of removing costs out of everything that passes their way.

I'm really looking forward to the Malibu, and future GM interior milestones.

It's only going to get better.

looks great, but lets not forget the competition works and improves just as fast too.

Keep up the good work GM.

So if I understand correctly, the Malibu will be the next Camry/Accord fighter?

Last I read in a article, the Impala was definitely getting roomier inside.. But GM didn't decide if they were going to push it higher in the upscale bracket?
