All that money, and you get the same engine and trans thats in a $30k pick up? [/sarcasim]

I dont understand how this is supposed to keep up with the likes of the GL470 or the Q7.

I agree with you on the previous gen. However that design was largely unchanged since all the way back in 98 - back when rebadging was much more of an accepted or looked over process - back then the Escalade was just as bad if not worse at being barely more than a loaded Tahoe.

The LC is not out yet - so reserve your judgement on rebadging until that occurs.

The 6.0 with nearly as much power as in the Escalade is available in the Silverado and Sierra and with just as much is available in the Sierra Denali.
Should Lexus have created a special version with 20 more ponies just to make people feel special over Tundra owners?

The LX is BOF. Those two are unibody. I'm not sure that it's entirely meant to compete with them in driving dynamics.

Well, you're right -- I heard that was part a deal cut with Toyota dealers when they launched the Lexus brand. If Land Cruiser wasn't already an established luxury brand in the US, they would have just made it a Lexus and been done with it.

(Outside of the US, "Land Cruiser" is more of a SUV umbrella brand including 4Runner and other non-luxury models.)

Plus, some wealthy people may prefer the "T" because it's not so ostentatious.

Funny, I was thinking more like Sequoia...not much different than what GM does with Denali to Escalade, except the Escalade gets an edgier exterior.

The Seq and LC/LX share virtually nothing except for their motor (well, right now they don't, but when the new one comes out, they almost definitely will).

They do pretty much look exactly the same from the side though.

I was kidding....
Escalade has a 6.2 and 6spd auto that makes 403hp. VMax makes 370hp. Only pick up the 6.2/6spd is the Sierra Denali as you metioned.

Should Lexus create a special version? Nah, but should they charge over 70 grand? Ehhhhhh....
