2008 LX570 is released
It looks like the Sequoia to me from the front and side. It does nothing for me although the interior looks nice. One of the last vehicles I would consider for $75k.
Exactly. One word to describe the interior: busy. Based on the pics, the materials don't seem to really blow me away, but I'll have to see one at the auto show before I make final judgement.
Your assumption is correct based on the rumors that have been circulating for several months now.
I really like Lexus but the exterior looks not bad....but horrific to me. It has the same odd curves like the new Highlander. The interior looks really nice, but I also do not liek the dash layout at all. You would never see me spend that coin on that. And Escalade would be an easy choice for me over this thing.
So Lexus will have 3 BOF SUVs (GX, whatever the Sequoia-based truck is called, and this LX570)? Plus the RX unibody wagon?I've also seen Toyota commercials marketing how they (the Toyota brand alone) have 6 different SUVs, to "fit all lifestyles".
RAV4 (unibody)
Highlander (unibody)
FJ Cruiser (BOF)
4Runner (BOF)
Sequoia (BOF)
Land Cruiser (BOF)
Now it sounds like Lexus will have a version of 4 out of those 6, at least:
RX330 (Highlander, unibody)
GX (4Runner, BOF)
Sequoia-based, BOF
LX570 (Land Cruiser, BOF)
My oh my how the Prius has worked wonders to paint them as the green company, when they are as bad or worse than the rest of the manufacturers when it comes to offering big guzzling SUVs.

Chevrolet:
Equinox (unibody)
Trailblazer (BOF)
Tahoe (BOF)
Suburban (BOF), though it could be counted as a LWB Tahoe
GMC:
Acadia (unibody)
Envoy (BOF)
Yukon/Yukon XL (BOF)

I like the way the rear seats fold up for more storage, innovative. Not really inspired by the exterior, interior looks nice, I like the Cherry-look woodwork, the stitched dash and contrasting colors. Don't like the toggle switches on the console either. For the price I thought it would state it's presence more loudly.
Yet what we get from Maximum Bob is that the three greenies unveiled in New York aren't being looked at for the North American market. Brilliant.

Forget the Volt in the near future. The technology just isn't pheasable for a mass-produced car, yet. GM needs a 40-50 MPG car NOW.

This thing is just bragging rights for soccer moms with way too much money. There is a difference between paying $73k for a land yacht and $33k for a GTO.
I enjoy the power it has and it gets a lot better gas milage than that thing.
To tell you the truth that thing would get lost in the crown to me, just another boring SUV in the sea of SUVs on the road.

Not to mention the obvious dramatic improvement to the interior, chassis, powertrain, etc...
Looks like Lexus figured out how to get the 3rd row out of the way on a solid axle SUV. The GMT900s need to steal that 3rd row seat design...yesterday. It's a simple solution to IMO one of the 900's biggest flaws, and I can't believe GM couldn't figure that one out themselves. It is the one area where the 900s are much worse off then the competition, and I'm sure this one flaw results in a good amount of lost sales.
BORING! If I'm ever in the position that I need to drop $75k on a SUV to impress the neighbors that will be the last one I'd buy. The Escalade and even Navigator have so much more presence and for less cost. For that cash it needs to compete with Range Rovers, M-B GL, BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne and sorry it just doesn't.
And they say GM is bad at rebadging vehicles. This thing is nothing more than a Land Cruiser with a silver "L" rather than a "T" on the grille.
