Popular Mechanics website has posted a pic. of what they are calling the "freshened 2005 Monte Carlo", but since we now know the 2005 Monte Carlo is a carry over from '04. The pic. they posted must be of a 2006 model, which we know is getting restyled along with the Impala in 2006. They say nothing about powertrain changes?

2006 Monte Carlo

From the looks of the pic. they have taken what style the Monte had and replaced it with Malibu styling
I prefer the rear bumper with bulges and the curved bulges over the wheel wells like the '00-'05 models have.
You can't see what changes they made to the front from the angle of that pic. but you can see some oversized Toyota Camry style headlights. After 5 years of the same Monte, couldn't they have came up with a better freshening?

 

I feel less intelligent after reading this post for some reason.

 

I like the sharper, more angular styling better on this car and most others that are using it or planning to these days. (thankfully) I just hope the front isn't messed up.

 

 

Hate to say it,but the FWD Monte Carlos never had any style. Hopefully next time around GM will cook up something tastier.

that is no way near what the 05 or even the 06 monte will look like. obviousle it's not the 05 model because they are already out, and it's not the 06 model because all they did was change the bumper and headlights. that's not a remodel. Basically all that it is, is PM tring to fill up space in their magazine and try to sell it by tring to fool the public thinking that that is the next monte carlo and that they get the latest scoop.

 

Yes & no.

The bumper is in fact flatter & the trunk bulge is gone in the 2006 model. Also, there is a different grille, headlights, and bumper.

On the other hand, that clearly is not the car, and the news on the new 2006 Monte really isn't all that big a deal.

At least Impala's touch up gains some new sheetmetal stampings in the process.

 

I zoomed in on the pic., looks like someone at PM got bored and started playing with photoshop.

 

the pic doesnt really look all that refined so im thinking that it is a photochop. the headlights look identical to a cobalt.
