2004 Mystichrome Cobra

http://media.ford.com/article_displa...ticle_id=15099

This Cobra looks HOT!! The Mystichrome color shifting look was even carried into the interior leather trim which is an Industry first. Only 1,000 will be built. I'd like to see some interior shots.

Did you know that the 96 Cobra was the first production car ever to feature color shifting paint? i didn't.

"The resulting color shift is described by the DuPont chemists as, “a bright, metallic topaz that transitions to cobalt blue, then to royal purple, and finally into a deep onyx black.”"

I am torn with this paint idea...

At first, it's pretty cool, but I don't know that I'd want it myself... but I guess they are limited to 1000 anyway.

I like the colors it 'shifts' too better than the 96 though... If I remember right, the 96 shifted from a purplish color to a greenish color to a wierd brownish-gold-mustard color.

I just looks 'odd' to me when you look at a car and it is different colors across the body...

Isn't that the kind of paint that ricers use on their cars?

Seriously, it probably isn't something that I would want (if I wanted an uncommon paint color that would stand out I'd go with GM's S.O.M.) but I give Ford credit for offering it anyway.

i could have sworn that the firebird had that color-changing chameleon green paint in '95,i may be wrong and the colors or type of paint may be different, since i've never seen a '96 mystic cobra in person.i wish i had a '96 mystic, and i wish ford would stop coming out with such cool mustangs so i can wait on the new one.mystic cobra, mach 1 in orange or yellow.....c'mon ford,i'm trying to wait!!!

Green + Purple + Blue + Black =

I'll give Ford credit for the idea though because it is cool in that respect, but how about a different color scheme? There is some people that live a couple of blocks from me that have two of the 96 Cobras in this color. (I know, two of the same colored car... its weird.) Everytime I drove by it the green would fade to the black or purple and make it look brown or pink. Nifty idea, but how about a light blue to regular blue to dark blue to black or something like that. Its been awhile since I've taken art, but what are similar colors called? Complimentary?

Man , this looks just like a Dupont color called Carribean Teal . If in fact it is , I saw this color on a Super Street fox body mustang a couple years back . Color is flat out amazing in person under the sun . Off all the gaudy color changing paint , this isnt one of them .

Could be wrong , but that color on the 04 looks just liek what I saw a couple years back .

There's an mn12 thunderbird down here that has that color on it, Im pretty sure. Its less purple, more teal it seems like, at all angles.

I think it is a pretty cool idea but I would hate to foot the bill to get the paint matched (if possible) if I get in a fender bender.

Ford is trying this paint again, it didn't go over in the mid-90s and probably won't go over again.

Cobras and T-Birds got the paint in the 90s. It looks pretty cool in the sunlight, but looks pretty dull in cloudy weather or darker conditions.

I think its badass. I hope they keep working on the technology too, I bet theres some pretty wicked stuff they could come up w/ if they researched it enough.

Never thought about that. I can see people at body shops across the country scratching their heads when they see this color come in.
