The 500 HP benchmark for the new Lightning is no surprise after Dodge showed up Ford last year with the SRT-10. As for how it looks? I'm not fond of the Explorer-inspired headlights, they're odd looking. The new F150 does look a lot more masculine than the current one though.

I would say Ford's equivalent is the Thunderbird, and it certainly follows the same formula.

Did you guys read the part about the "SUPERCOOLER". It uses the A/C to cool the blowers' incoming charge.

How cool!

Yeah, it has the same affect as nitrous, just safer, cleaner, and it never runs out. It give you a 50hp boost for upto 45 seconds and then it regenerates in 2 minutes. So that ups the power to 550hp with the SuperCooler on?

Hmm.. I'm pretty sure I stated my opinion, which is the best I can do. I don't work for GM. I make educated guesses based on what I hear and see, which is all anyone can do.

Your opinion may be that the SSR or GTO are crappy, but just wait till they reach and surpass estimated sales figures.

You seemed to have random grudges against me on thirdgen.org, and now here? Stop reading stuff into my words, and get a life.

ok,i may have a pissy attitude toward you here because i stated i thought the GTO was lame and you pissed all over my opinion and said it was irrevelant because all i've seen is a picture,BUT on another thread you bash the new mustang,EVEN THOUGH,all you've seen is a picture.but i'll drop it because THIS is stupid,i'm sorry,i'll just ignore your posts.
as far as thirdgen.org,i'm not registered there, nor do i like third generation f-bodies(i think they're lame, whoops),i just looked over there, but i didn't know where to look for my supposed grudge.my screen name came from spinal tap, maybe there is a tap fan over there who doesn't like you.

The difference:

The Monaro is more of a toned-down design, middle-of-the-road design (well it's true), and its character comes from subtle nuances and hidden curves. So, to discount it right away and to call it a grand prix without seeing a 3D model or at least detailed photos from many angles is shortsighted. You saw how many people changed their mind from "no" to "yes!" after seeing the high resolution photos.

The Mustang concept on the other hand doesn't appear to have any complex curves or hidden architecture. I'm always going to hate that retro orangutan-looking front and those bubbly DISCO taillights, regardless of which angle I see them from.

Regardless of all that: Go to Stangnet and witness all the 'Stang fans who are disgusted with that 2005 concept! You will not find a similar phenomenon on a Monaro website or here.

i love the convertible concept but i know alot of mustang fans hate it,but now go to blueovalnews.com and witness mustang fans praising the concept coupe, and i guarantee, once stangnet and corral.net get the pics of the silver coupe, they'll love it as well.but for the GTO,cool interior, badass engine, but so-so looks.we'll have to agree to disagree.

I can call it ugly because it lacks refinement and the current Lightning looks quite a bit better.

So very very wrong. It's more for collectors than anyone else. As was told to me (take it however you want): it's a vehicle GM will loose money on, but it's goal is to keep Chevrolet in everyone's minds with a low volume vehicle that has impact.

Again, take it however you want, but it clearly isn't aimed at normal or traditional Chevrolet buyers.

good point, but you gotta admit there's overlap between "collector" and "mid-life crisis husband of soccer mom". Neither one is a derogatory term, except for "soccer mom" which is out of the equation here. I hope I didn't come off sounding like I'm against the SSR. I like it and I think it'll do well.

The second age of muscle cars are back and soon we may have more Chevy-Ford competition. I so look forward to it. But in the meantime can we spell out M U S T A N G and F O R D completely??? It's only a few extra letters...
