08 Mustang Bullitt: 315hp $34,705

Only 7700 to be built. The $34,705 is the as tested price of the Bullitt that AutoWeek had in their fleet from March 19 to April 3. No scoops or spoilers, no fog lights, no prancing horse on grill and blacked out brake calipers. Steering wheel and seats from the GT500. Strut tower brace and more aggressive shocks and struts than the regular GT. Doesnt seem like you are getting much for the extra $7000 above a GT.

Most of what you're paying for on that car is the FRPP power and handling packs. You get the suspension stuff you mentioned, plus a conservative tune with Ford's version of torque management, a nice open element air filter on the end of the restrictive stock air tube, an x pipe with cats, mufflers with a slightly diferent tone, and the 3.55 gears that are optional on the GT. It adds up to an unbelievable 275-280rwhp and high 13's in the 1/4 mile.

The Bullitts should be getting 3.73's along with the GT500 stick axle and I'm pretty sure the suspension isn't FRPP stuff (its to stiff I think for regular Ford production stuff and there are geometry issues with the FRPP FR3 suspension as well). The engine management is refered to as adaptive, it retunes itself based on the the octane rating of the fuel in the system for a claimed increase of 15hp and 25 ft/lbs. The engine also is designed to rev a bit higher (6500 rpm vs 6250)

A stock GT can run mid to high 13's, the Bullitt should be a solid mid 13 second car, maybe even a low 13 second car.

It should be a 12 second car for that kind of money, but so far nobody has done better than high 13's and 100-102mph. Hell the one MT tested was actually slower than a 05 GT they tested by 2 tenths and it even ran the same figure eight time (which was also the same as the 2 ton G8)

Sorry, but for $7000 I'd have a Procharger or turbo setup that adds about 150hp, and have enough left over for exhaust, gear, tune, and sticky Mickeys. Those 7700 people are going to be pi$$ed when they find out the next gen stang is getting 350-360hp standard.

Maybe this summer there will be a few showing up at the track and we can see what they are capable of? I can run high 13's in my 07 with my fat **** in it (1/2 tank of gas and with me tripped the scales at 3820 lbs and I ran around the same ET and MPH at Bud's Creek).

Yeah, I wish they would have done a few more things with it, like GT500 brakes, 255/45R18 summer tires, and something better in the engine compartment (I heard that a DOHC 5.4 was stillborn)

Since you actually own the last one, I highly regard your opinion on this. What do you feel sucks about the new one??

He must like the fake air scoops of his 01 Bullitt over the understated stealth look of the 08.

Save the 7k and put it into the car yourself. There is nothing there that couldn't be done by yourself for much cheaper, and you could actually get mods that you actually want. That is unless all you want is a numbered plaque........if they are actually doing that.

@ 35k, no thanks. I'd rather fork over an extra 7k and get the GT500 or just save my money and buy a regular GT for 26-27k. Talk about a useless model. When are they going to offer a REAL mid-level v8 mustang?

Not sure where they got that MSRP from. I test drove one with the $2000 navigation system that stickered for 31k.

Its actually a very cool car. Interior is nice and the sound is diffrent then the GT. I would have bought it if it did not have the navigation system and I could have got x plan on it.

LOL! welcome to 2008. If you think the new camaro is going to be less and be a 12 sec car you are more then likely wrong.

Mustang has a $1,500 rebate right now and some regions have another $1,000 on top of that and Bullit is eligible, so that would take a little bit of the edge off the price vs. a regular GT.
