'08 CTS rendering

Sorry if this is a repost... didn't recall seeing this yet though.

Cadillac's CTS sedan will be new for the 2008 model year. The next-generation CTS will be built on GM's rear-wheel-drive Sigma platform. This prototype, photographed at Germany 's famous Nürburgring racetrack, gives a look at the dramatic styling of the new CTS.

Despite the checkerboard tape over the car's front end, one can clearly see the bold lines and massive grille of the new CTS, showing a family resemblance to the latest Cadillac Escalade. A peek inside the open side window gives a look at the interior of the new CTS.

Lutz said a few years back he was going to put more "Art" in Caddies "Art and Science" design theme, and if the rendering is accurate it looks like he will.

Looks like a frigging Camry. Let's keep the American thing going on here. I sincerely hope it looks nothing like this.

Re: '08 CTS rendering

Front looks good, side looks OK though the doors look a bit oddly proportioned. The rear looks terrible... are they trying to copy a decade old failed Acura tail design or what? What's with the seem down the middle?

For comparison purposes, here's the original image that was chopped:

Differences are very minor from my POV.

Edit: I like how there's a hint of this in the rear:

(Acura WTF?)

That was kinda my first thought when I saw the rear of the car... kinda caught me off guard when Threxx said Acura

And as for Camry... that's a REAL stretch. It's another one of those situations where if the car changes any it'll look slightly more like some other car on the market... so now it looks just like a Camry

Re: '08 CTS rendering

I thought the front was terrible until I saw the a5send. The back is so bad it makes the front look good. There is waaaay too much empty space there. Way to ruin an attractive automobile.

Re: '08 CTS rendering

Agreed thats a terrible chop.

The old acura 3.2TLs and RLs used to have a definite seam in the middle like that. It was more noticeable on those because they weren't as edgy as the CTS.

Those are also ten years old as apposed to fifty, so most people on the street will probably think that as apposed to whatever cadillac you can dig up.

In any case I really hope this car doesen't look like these chops because they all look like ***. Im thinking this is one of those cars that has more of a physical presence than photographic appeal.

Re: '08 CTS rendering

Hmm, definitely better than I could do, BUT, it looks like it sat in the sun too long and got slightly melted. The Chris Pauwels version, on the other hand, is the shiznit!

The classic American look that the current ones have. And when I said Camry, I just meant that it looked smoothed over so much and had a resemblence in the profile. I have to agree though, the above posted one by Chris is worlds ahead of this.

Re: '08 CTS rendering

That TCC rendering smacks of the DTS in the rear.
