Bye Bye LS7, hello LS3 and LS9?

Mentions using a 6.2 NA LS3 with about 450hp for the base Vette and 600hp LS9 supercharged 6.2Liter for the Z06

Also mention of a Corvette SS.

 

Doubt the SS moniker could ever make it to a vette. Way too special for the basic designation of "affordable performance".

450 base Corvette leaves pleanty of room for a 425 hp Camaro.

Amherst, Ohio (where the digital corvettes guy is from) - that's where I was born and raised. How cute.

 

Didn't the SS moniker come from, a special Corvette SS, that Duntov had built for testing? I could definately see a modern Corvette SS!

 

Yes it did, which is why I would have no problem seeing it or 'Stingray' return to the Corvette on the 'Blue Devil' model.

 

I would like to see a more powerful base engine. A 6.2L with better then 430hp. Maybe keep it just for the Corvette--okay maybe GTO and CTS V. Just for bragging rights over those 6.1L Hemis

 

I'm more than eager to see a 450+hp base Vette.

Hopefully it would be around 475 - meaning the base Camaro V8 could be 425 and the SS could be 450.

 

That's what I was gonna say. Just sit back and LOOK at the numbers we're throwing around here. If I'm dreaming, I don't want to wake up.

 

The original, and only Corvette SS was built in 1957 as a factory backed race car. It was Zora's baby, and it failed at Sebring of that year. The Magnesium body led to overheating problems. SS shouldn't be used on Corvette ever again, IMHO. But I do like the sound of even more exciting Vette's on the horizon.

 

GM doesn't appear to be resting on their laurels very long anymore, and its good to see that.

 

It was said before, and I will gratuitously steal it " GM doesn't lose horsepower wars".
