Probably because I imagine they will phase the Vibe out...

That would seem to be the smart thing to do. Does not seem to be thier plan though.

So I imagine you can't respect the cobalt because it is a direct replacement for the Caviler.

Not really. That is the best selling car in its class (not that that class is huge or anything but..). While it may not be your cup of tea, it is for thousands of others.

I think the overlap for HHR and Vibe is next to nada. They just look too different to be cross-shopped *IMO*.

Many in the Neon community arn't happy. Imagine if they took the Camaro and gave you that as the fifth gen

Can you respect the Cobalt being that it's the replacement for the Cavalier?

Re: '07 Caliber comes into view

On one hand, I think the Caliber is a neat ride. It's interior is nice from what I can see, and the exterior (though the poster child for the word "Overdone") is far more "expensive" looking than anything else that's going to be around the $20K mark.

On the other hand, I gotta say WTF?!

I'm probally one of the 2 or 3 people on this site that actually liked the Neon, and I think the SRT4 is the absolute baddest budget pocket missile with 4 wheels and FWD (especially in ACR trim ). With the Caliber positioned as Neon's sedan replacement, I gotta say it's gonna irritate alot of people. ALOT of people.

The only saving grace in all this is that there is something else coming off this chassis as well, that isn't classified as a "Truck". I can't say if it's going to be a coupe or sedan, but something else is enroute by most accounts.

If you weren't thinkin' of me when you said 2 or 3, I guess that makes 4, lol The SRT-4 was/is a sick little ride, and I wouldn't mind having one, (even if it is front wheel drive). It's unfourtunate that this is it's replacement. Just when Dodge had really kicked it up a notch with the SRT-4, they kill the car it's based on. Just by lookin' at this new car, I can't imagine that it could carry on that performance tradition...and from what I see the neon is better looking. I guess we'll just have to see when it comes out, so I'll quit running my mouth for now

Local article on Caliber and other vehicles on the same platform. At least 2 Jeep models coming and rumors of a fourth unspecified vehicle.

That shifter looks like a knuckle buster...

Horrible positioning IMO.

I guess I'm number 5. I think no direct (sedan/coupe) replacement for the Neon/SRT-4 will only help Chevy sell more Cobalt/Cobalt SS's.
