'06 Z06s on the production line at Bowling Green
'06 Z06s on the production line at Bowling Green
I just got back from a weekend trip to Nashville. On the way down Friday I stopped by the Corvette plant and took the tour. During the tour I saw 4 Z06s on the production line, and several others in post production line inspection area, also I saw several sitting around outside of the plant and on the roads in the Bowling Green area. One that I saw leaving the plant while I was in the Hardee's parking lot was very striking in the new '06 color Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic also I saw a Yellow one leaving too
All I can say is they look awesome, and those front brake calipers are massive! I asked a plant rep. about Z06 production and they said Z06s were not up to full production yet and these were more or less test cars. Also they stated that 2006 Corvette production just started a few weeks ago and they are already sold out for the model year. Every 2006 Corvette has already been bought by a dealer or been ordered for direct sales.
As far as the Cadillac XLR, I did not see any XLR-Vs around or in production and I was so awwed by the Z06 I forgot to ask about the XLR-V

I can tell you first hand I drove a 2006 Z06 and all I can say is BAAAAAAAAAD ASSSSSSSSSSSSSS! You deffinetly cn feel all 505hp in that car. I work at the GM Tech Center in Warren, MI. We work on all the 06 models before they get to the dealers. I pretty much drove all the new cars already. You can EASILY lay a 60ft + patch with the traction control off and have 2 solid patches with the new Z06. I did it today driving one. I shifted out of 2nd into 3rd at 100mph. When you hit second the car will shift sideways a little. Its fun to drive. Makes me want one bad, but with a sticker price of about 70K - OUCH!

Did ya see a Silver Z06 with the Titanium Grey accent seats on the line? Could be my CFO's car...
I think he told me his dealership thought his TPW is this week or next...

I did see a Silver one on the line, but I don't know about the seats, I didn't pay attention to them. I saw several car hauler truck transports in the area full of Corvettes but none had Z06s on them.

Monteret Red won't make it on a Z06, it's a coupe and convertible color at this time.

I never had my camera ready when I saw them driving around Bowling Green. I could have used my cell, but the pics. would have sucked.
