I think the CTS V-series will use the base C6 400hp+ vette engine in the coming years and the STS V-series will use the C6 500hp+ Vette Z06 Engine after the current LS1 and LS6 runs its course.

I'm not too sure about that john. I think Caddy would prefer to use versions of the Northstar (NA or supercharged), or even a future V12, if they can.

The CTSv with it's smallblock power, may be abit of a fluke...due to it's engine bay's inability to accept a Northstar.

At this point its all speculation but I would think the STS would use the Northstar as is standard V8 engine and the new Vette engines would by only for the High performance models

More on the 2005 STS and how it is meant to be a direct competitor to the BMW 5-series, as the CTS is to be that of the 3-series:

The point is that however we feel about the SBC V8, or however much power it produces or how refined it really is, there are the snobs out there that need the OHC engine. There's no Bimmer's or Mercedes that I know of with a pushrod motor, and these are the people Caddy is going after.

Aye. A turbo Northstar would be about the coolest thing ever though

You are most likely right.
