05 Mustang GT in latest MT...13.5@103.6!
I received the Jan '05 Motor Trend today, in it, the 2005 Car of the Year competition.
An '05 5-speed manual GT was tested at 13.5@103.6mph (by comparison, a C6 Z51 went 12.6@113.2mph!).
I guess they really don't have enough to run mid-13's.

Re: 05 Mustang GT in latest MT...13.5@103.6!
I'd rather have an auto, more consistant and just as fast....
manual is .1 faster.....big whup.
MT seems to know the secret to these cars or something. Every other magazine (including private owners) are stuck in the high 13's with these cars.
And please don't start posting about people who "claim" to have these cars in the low 13's, yet never show any evidence.

What a joke.
Wouldn't matter to some people if there were scores of people and numerous tests in mags showing them going mid-13's.
There will still be the person who puts his or her entire belief in a grainy video that lacks any details about the car, driver or track.
There will be many people with egg on their face in the next few months.
Those that think a ~275rwhp, 3450-3500lb. car won't run mid-13's are in for a shock.

Not too shabby...but not ground breaking either. I think the car's performance is respectable, but I just cannot get past the aesthetics of it.
That said, people say the same about the GTO...although that will probably be my next ride

However, as is the case with many blindly brand biased, the car will not be "capable" of running mid 13's until there is a video that has been certified as accurate and true............. showing the car being disassembled and reassembed to verify its stock condition............. showing the car from the time of stock certification to verify that no mods were done while it was waiting for its turn to run........... and showing it going through the traps with the time and ET screen in the same frame with the car. It would then need to show a time slip which has the cars vin on it to verify that this is indeed this same car.
Then they may believe it.

There is another gentleman who is running 13.6's with his after only 3 times to the track (not one of the best tracks in the nation either). I believe the car currently has about 700 miles on it. There are some auto's running about the same times also (I believe 2 people have posted on this).
What a car is capable of, and what the average driver will get it to do are very different things. Most "average" drivers ran mid 13's in their LS1 F-bodies also. However, we have all agreed that the cars are capable of more.

Re: 05 Mustang GT in latest MT...13.5@103.6!
Mec, show me anywhere where I said they did. Or, show me anywhere where I said they were as fast as the late model LS1 cars.
I said they are capable of mid 13's, and that is all. It is looking like the average driver so far is capable of high 13's, or low 14's. Just like the late model LS1 cars are capable of low 13's, with the occassional high 12 thown in, but the average driver would see mid to high 13's.
Stop lookin for a consipiracy where none exists.
