"Screw them. Until they can come out with a nice looking RWD V8 car that the average man can afford, they can make a corvette XUV for all i care."

That said it all... I've yet to see a GTO on the STreet... I've however seen it parked at dealer lots for MONTHS!!!!!

SRT-4's sell better.

Why pay 35K for an uninspiring boring car that has been done over 90 times? "A boxy Sporty-ish Coupe that has a luxurious interior" Volvo,BMW,Mercedes, Audo, Infinity...Now GM...

For Chrisis Sake! Stick to freaking Muscle cars! Give the people what they want...instead of regurgitating this Australian crap.

1. Crossfire sucks and was therefore discontinued and forgotten by performance loving enthusiasts.

2. ZO6s are loud. In fact, they're about the loudest stock car I've ever heard.

3. Flowmaster mufflers are not "turbo" mufflers. They use outdated "sound cancellation" technology. Magnaflow and Borla make a muffler that can reasonably be called a "turbo" style muffler.

I build performance street cars for a living. Trust me, stangkilla. You don't know what you're talking about.

EVERY v8 ls1 car that was sold here sold for over 30k. unless you had connections you couldnt get one for under that. the days of cheap budget performance muscle cars are gone.they died many many years ago. and i hope they STAY dead too.

you cannot (and i emphasise CANNOT) CANNOT compare the 4th gen and the GTO under ANY circustances. they are in 2 totally different market segmants.

further more, the australian crap you were talking about is WORLDS, no, GALAXIES better than anything weve had in previous years.

people bitched when gm took away the 4th gen cuz they didnt have a v8 RWD car. so they release one and people still bitch. i dont understand it.

Wow, lots of misinformation, lots of hating... wheres the love?

-No such thing as crossfire irocs. Carbed Irocs, TBI Irocs, TPI Irocs yes. Crossfire, no.
-The GTO is a great car, and when compared to what else is out there, and to the last of the fbodies that with options like the GTO, cost as much and you got a lesser car in terms of quality.
-No one said that the GTO filled in for the Fbodies. The GTO wasnt made to get every boy racer's manhood to jump up. Funny you make fun of ricers when they put gfx and wins, and hood scoops on there cars, but when an American car doesnt have them, you bash it for its "lack of style."
-The GTO's styling is just as bland as if you took a 1964 tempest's body, jamed a pontiac 389 from a large sedan under the hood, and added a few "GTO" badges on it. Dont debate it anymore, because thats the GTO formula and thats what started the muscle car craze.
-11 sec GTO's... I dont think so. 12' sec maybe with good tires, and some minor things yes, but 11's are a quite a distance from a stock GTO.
-Look at what else is out there for sports coupes, and the GTO is right there in every aspect for the same price.
-If people would be so concerned with styling, then the Camry and Accord wouldnt be the top 2 selling cars in America.

Did I miss anything?

I think you got it all.... especially the point where a GTO is supposed to look like other pontiacs. Hearing people complain about how it looks like a grand prix over and OVER gets so annoying, it looks like one cause its supposed to. Type in GTO History in a search engine and you will see what a GTO was, and how it is supposed to look.

I hate when people bash the Holden monaro just because it's australian. I personally like The holden line...really the HSV lineup. That GTS coupe is sweet with a 300kw( I think that's about 400hp) LS1.

Yeesh...

I like the GTO.

Quick as a Corvette? NO.

I agree with the consensus. Get the rookie flamers out of here. This place is for PROFESSIONAL flamers.

I love the people who say STFU, it's a RWD V8 car!

Why is it we should all bow down to GM for having a V8 RWD car? Why can't we EXPECT GM TO MAKE SOMETHING FRESH THAT LOOKS LIKE A DAMN SPORTS CAR?!?!?!

When you think of GTO, you think of a muscle car that had style. NOW, you see a GTO and you think of a Cavalier with an LS1. How can people disagree that there was SO MUCH MORE ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT with the design?

If Chevy was to put an LS1 in a cavalier and rename it a Z28, would you be enthused with the design?

Face facts.... GM cut corners with the GTO. The Holden Monaro hasn't been a huge success in build quality to begin with. Now add a bunch of torque to the design (granted, other aspects have changed also) and see how well it will hold up.

Everyone praises the original GTO, but yet..it too was also taken from another design! who doesn't cut corners anymore...every thing was inspired by something. Like I said earlier in this thread... "Nothing in this world is original anymore. Everything was inspired, or borrowed from something else...music, movies, and cars."

So what are the build quality issues with as you put it the "Manaro"???

*cough* Monaro

You do realise you are a minority group when it comes to car styling? The general public prefer the sedate non offensive clean lines.

Like Big Al stated...why is the Camry and Accord the best sellers?
