, I just cannot believe your claim that there was EVER an Iroc that came with crossfire injection even if it was a supposed factory installed part. It was THE most unreliable system ever devised so far as my readings have come to make me believe and thats why it was so short lived. I have never actually seen one in person though. However, I do know that TPI came out in 1985 and was put on the 305's in some of the Irocs. I truely believe that it was either a TBI setup or perhaps a TPI setup. But the again, neither of us have any hard evidence to prove or disprove it. Basically, there was a reason it was called "CeaseFire Injection" and it wasn't because it was good. Not to sound condescending at ALL, but do you know what a TPI and a TBI look like? I'm of a mind to believe that you saw one of these and your neighbor didn't have a damn clue what he was talking about.

how loud is a "turbo"? last i recall seeing, a turbo was a boost making device found in exhaust systems that makes exhaust quieter... and to that extent GM hasnt offered even ONE turbo car since the 92 Clyclones and Typhoons. next up, have you ever heard a c5 vette (non z06) exhaust? pretty damn loud for stock. the z06 sounds even louder.
next i dont even see how a turd *** late second gen firebird got brought into this convo either. hell my 1991 350 "crossfire" powered Trans Am would walk all over one stock for stock.
and finally what exactly DO you race? what with a 305 3rd gen and a v6 powered 4th gen with 20's.

Maybe, but I've driven the two irocs and a 1970 Impala with a 350 crossfire. Lots of complaints about them but I have'nt seen why. The 70 Impala was jumping at over 100mph with the light touch of the pedal. but I never owned one if that's what you meant. Alot of times my fireinds ask me to drive their cars for them, be it racing or just testing it. Everyone who knows me knows I can drive so I get to put peoples cars tyhrough "my" tests. I liked the crossfire so much becasue of it's mid-rpm range power I was planning to find one on ebay or somewhere. If it's a motor that wont hold up for long I would'nt mess with it. I'll take your word for it because most people dont even know what a crossfire 350 is and to know means you know your s**t. But tell me something? How much horsepower were they supposed to be pulling? Just by driving I know it had to be near the 300's if not higher. I really liked those motors.

A "Turbo" muffler is what ALL factory Z28's come with (but I thought u knew that?) Flowmaster and every other muffler company sells them. DUHHHHHHHH

a crossfire 350 was ONLY available in a 1981-1983 corvette. NO camaro ever got it, no 1970 Impala ever got it.
the Crossfire Injection setup was designed after the 1969 DZ302 dual carb setup found in Camaro Z28's. only difference is, the 69 camaro was powered by dual carbs and the crossfire from the 80s was powered by dual throttle bodies. they are NOT the hot ticket for performance and to achieve even 300 hp in them would be a feat and a half.
trust me on this, no one in their right mind would go through the time or the hassle to swap a crossfire onto ANY car unless its a 1982 Camaro Z28 Pace Car that originally had it that was being restored.
also, where did you find a 4 bolt main 305? never heard of that...

Coworker got an 02 Z28 for $20,4xx out the door, brand new. 30-35k is a joke, only the most SLP optioned SSes (would have to be a vert too I imagine) could touch that number. I've had 2 SSes, a 98 and an 00, one loaded and the other loaded with SLP options. 28,xxx and 29,xxx sticker prices.
Oh, and I paid a LOT less than that on both cars.
