this just goes to show ONE thing (LISTEN UP GM!!!), if you build a _good_ car, style it properly, and price it correctly, the public will bite. the fact that people with money aren't detered by it's "lowball" price is a testement to how well the "good car" and "properly styled" parts are excecuted in the 300. is it REALLY that difficult to make cars that people want to buy? it should be 1-2-3 easy.

Now THAT"S something!
Remember not too long ago when GM and it's minions were telling us how important SUVs & trucks were, and how they couldn't put money into cars? It was about that time Daimler was sitting on Chrysler's new products, including the new LX cars.

its fo'shizzle.....mah nizzle...
thats amazing. I belive it was 50 Cent who had the first 300C in his video. The one where there are like 3 crime groups, and they want to kick 50 out of the whole deal. Then all these cars start rolling up. One of them was a 300.

As we are seeing with the GTO IMHO, and with many of the new AND exciting cars from GM, many are just too expensive for most people. I remember when the solstice was supposed to be a sub $20k car, now the estimates are topping $25k aren't they? You don't need to give people massive rebates on cars to get them to buy, because many just see the MSRP, just sell them as a reasonable price in the first place and people will buy.

It will definitely have a nice ride, and I am sure great styling, but the base will be about twice the price of the 300. Like morbid said, you need a great car at a great price. Imagine if the CTS was a base price of $23-25k, they wouldn't be able to make enough to keep demand.

Clarkson on Top Gear TV said that the price of the Monaro was fantastic for all the things that it comes with (everything that we get). And that car too wasnt as powerful as the GTO here.
But when it comes here, and goes under a company that symbolized what used to be a cheap, crappy, body cladded company and they ask for 32k, people's jaws drop.
Who said that the solstice will top out at 25k? Who said that? Is it just the idea that GM cant make a sweet car for a low price? I think its just that the majority of this forum is jaded on any car that comes out from GM. It seems that Ford and DCX can do no wrong on this site. There are more "GM is failing at this" threads then anything else. Any success that GM shows is usualy dulled down and played out as if it never happend. Everyone here seems to downplay the bad things of DCX and Ford, and highlight the negatives of GM.
Example. Oh, the Mustang is awesome, and the GT rocks! Ford is the best evar!!
What we dont talk about is that Fords sedans seem to be falling far behind. Taurus is a big highlight for me since my family has now had 5 of them. They went from #1 to #.... its there. How about the Crown Vic that just keeps trucking along as a Livery/Police special. Zero market place value what so ever, even less with cars like the 300.
DCX: That 300/Magnum is kicking ***!!
What we dont talk about is how everything else seems to suck. Outside of the Viper and SRT4, what the hell else seems to be grabbing people's attention?
Another...
GM takes forever to come up with cars.
what we dont talk about is the oh 30 year or so gap that Dodge fans had to wait for a RWD car, and when it comes out, its a 2 ton sedan or wagon.
One more before I go..
GM rebadges everything
What we dont talk about is Merc, which seems to be Ford with a new grill. Every single car is a Ford with a Grill
Taurus+Grill= Sable
Crown Vic+Grill= Grand Mark
Freestar+grill=Montego(or Monteray?) sp?
Exploder+Grill= Moutaineer
In bringing in the total picture, it seems GM is doing much better right now then the other 2. GM is unloading new car after new car in every single direction. 2 from Chevy....1 from Pontiac...2 from Buick...then 2 more from Pontiac... then 3 more from Chevy... then 2 more from Caddy... etc etc.
Ford?...... the 500? Mustang? How about this Futura that has taken forever just to rebadge? Anytime sweetheart.
DCX? the 300, Pacifica, Magnum and...and...and..
So to end my rant, please cut GM some f*cking slack. They didnt get to be #1 by just building cars on a whim. They are pumping out cars for the everyday person, you know the 90% of people who cant tell the difference between OHC and ABS. They are moving faster then anyone else right now. Just because they arent building the car for you with your very own monagram towels, doesnt mean that hey are lagging behind or going to fall apart.
Friggin Snoop Dogg calls up some CEO and everyone goes crazy like DCX is gunna take over the globe
My intention was not to say that GM totally sucks and DCX and Ford can do no wrong, but that there is room for improvement.
And I know the CTS is doing quite well, its a very nice car. I am just playing the what if game, while its a good buy, it doesn't have the reverse sticker shock the 300 does.
While I agree ford appears to be struggling to bring new products to the showroom I think DCX is doing pretty well.
pacifica, crossfire (though it is overpriced), 300, magnum, new caravan (stow n go), srt4, viper is nice but too expensive and exclusive to really matter, durango, (though its really ugly imho).
I think I am also biased because chevy has a crapload of trucks compared to the other lines (silverado, SS, SSR[close enough to a truck], equinox, colorado, trailblazer, avalanche and I am probabl forgetting others. plus you have the entire has GMC lineup with trucks. I think chevy should give more attention to its cars and transfer more of the lines to GMC, maybe thats foolish I dont know.
Man I am on a rant today, must be this cold I have.

The thing that makes the 300 better then the STS is the fact that the 300s seem to be the better valve. The interior in the 300s are something that you would think you would find in a 50k car, ala the STS. This is probably why people are selling their Cadallic and Mercades for this car.
