If you have a 97 or older, your front wheels most likely aren't hubcentric anyway. Mine aren't.

If you measure your rear hub and find it is larger than your front (as mine are) any wheel that fits on the rear will have a gap around the hub in the front. The lugs center the wheel and take all of the load (asside from the clamp-up friction, which is large).

I found this out the hard way when I bought the AFS wheels. I put them on the rear and they were an interference fit with the hubs. I played Hell getting them off. I then called AFS and they said they see this problem periodically and most commonly on Firebirds. Um, OK. Anyway, after much sanding and using my Dremel, I now have a more tolerable slip fit.

I wouldn't bother, you'd be much better off putting the two bones toward a stickier tire than spacers..... MHO

great so as long as teh plastic piece is trimmed I can fit 50mm offsets upfront with no spacer... will I have any problem regarding what 94bird said?

If you're buying AFS wheels you might, but it's not that big of a deal. I just wished I had been warned about it beforehand.

The next time you take off your rear wheels note the center of your hub that sticks out into the center of your wheels. That part of my rear hub was slightly larger in diameter than the center of the wheel it was supposed to fit into. I've had this problem with no other wheels (and that's been a few), but I can't say it wouldn't happen with some other wheel out there.

I bought the wheels new off ebay from AFS for such a good price a little grinding didn't bother me that much.

I found out about 5 years ago with take-off 17" SS wheels from SLP (along with a ton of other people). You see, sometime around '97 GM made the rear hub smaller to match the front. Then they machined the insides of their wheels to a smaller diameter to fit both hubs more tightly. Since these wheels were from '98 SS's, they would fit the front of my car but wouldn't even go on the rear. I had to hog out quite a bit of material with the Dremel to get them on. IIRC, Dave H. said from then on he would machine all the wheels to a larger diameter before they shipped.
