tire pressures
tire pressures
What tire pressure should I be using when I autox? I've been using 40 all around but I have heard others use less in the rear. Also, what should I use afterwards for daily driving?
You want just enough air to keep the tire from rolling over on the edge. You will still get roll over due to body roll but the right inflation pressure will at least keep the tire stable.
Start out with 38-45 lbs or so. I would use a little less in the rear than the front. Too much air will cause the tread to bow and the tire won't be flat. In other words, I guess what I'm saying is you'll have to play with the pressures and get a feel for what the car's doing. Raise pressures in the rear for more oversteer and reduce for more understeer.
I run about 35lbs on my 275's on the street. They wear a liitle bit more in the center, I should probably run more like 32 but hey, they handle better at 35.
