Post Simple brake question....

I am planning on doing a brake job.

Alright, my fornt right rotor, is slightly gouged form a pad wearing a little bit, its maybe on the outer edge about the 1/4in. form the edge. I jsut want to know having the rotor turned will it help it?

Or do I need new front rotors, they are about 2 years old and I have autoxed on them.

I mena its probable going to cost me $15 to get the fornt 2 rotors turned, and another $15 for the back to disc rotors to get turned. Since they are about 2 years old but do not look to thin, but is it worth it jsut upgrading them?

If the gouge isnt too deep, the guy who turns them will know the minimum thickness(isnt it stamped on?).They always tell you.
If it was mine.I'd get 2 new if this gouge is bad and turns to the min.
I change pads at 40-50% GONE(I got a few spares)

If they'll turn 'em, then turn 'em. Otherwise you know you'll just throw the old ones in the back of the car. That means two more iron chunks to add to the Eric monument you build in the field every time you autocross. You kill me dude.

Seriously, just turn them.

Monument? You mean that isnt a swap meet?

I'm not a big fan of turning rotors but if they're still pretty thick I dont see any problems.

I wouldnt bother turning the rears though unless you know they're warped. Just throw on some new pads and call it done.

I think I will turn them...

hehe don't worry I moved the swap meet/junk yard to the new bedroom.

serioulsy I need my own garage.

Last month may be the last time I bring my junkyard with me, I have a first floor apartment now, so now I don't have to lug the stuff up 3 flights of stairs to get rid of it.

I'll see more once I get them off.

I feel good about my new pads... I just read up in the new car and driver they did a test on differnet systems and they used hawk pads on a WRX nearly cut breaking distance in half over stock pads.

p.s. Jason you go to UCF right? been checking out the florida section recently?
