Unhappy Nitto 315/35 17" 555RII's delayed

I'm sure I'm not the only one here that's been in the market for these tires so I thought I'd share.

In a reply from my inquiry to Discount Tire Direct.

Thank you for your inquiry.

The Nitto 555R II production has been delayed in the 315/35-17
size. At this point, the tire may not be available until Spring
2004. The pricing should be close to the Drag Radial in that
size.

Well, if that's true, that's too bad. I was planning on buying a set to use as practice tires. In reality though I doubt I would have gotten them before spring, so as long as they come out then it won't affect me much. Heck, my car's in hibernation until April.

I certainly wouldn't be driving on these tires here in Wisconsin right now either I'm just a little worried now that it'll be late spring when they are introduced, they'll be backordered, gotte get them installed, yada, yada.

I'd be more comfortable if I could take care of it before spring arrives. Even if I am normally a procrastinator

My current tires are long overdue for replacement

That is disappointing. Last I heard they would be available in October '03.

I have been using four 315/35/17 Nitto drag radials with pretty good results (they are better than 275 RII's).

I'll get a set for my ZR1's in the spring I guess... just as well, I started a 383 build up and can use tire funds for a rear end.
