So what's involved in rebuilding the caliper. If I go with the ls1 route, I'm gonna do it myself. Like most things i do, I just wing it for the most part. Can I use the caliper without rebuilding it?

I doubt you'll find them locally.... not exactly run of the mill stuff. Price is in the mid-$70's.

Take some time to read this about converters... I use a Vig 2600 and love it.

Okay, I've decide to try better pads for now, since i don't really track my car. Just autocrosses here and there. I had a chance to inspect the brake lines while I was doing my shocks, they seem to be in good condition. Are stainless steel line really worth it? When I grabbed the line and squeeze it, it is pretty firm, not soft and mushy.

SS brake lines help with pedal feel but won't make you stop faster. Try the pads first along with flushing your brake system with some good brake fluid. I used Valvoline SynPower fluid, it has a very good wet and dry boiling point and exceeds DOT 3 & 4 specs.

Why take free advice from someone running a business and then not buy from them?

BTW Janny, How much did Billy Grahm charge?

It's been a couple of years now, but I think it was right around 200$. He was very good to deal with. I discovered one of the spindles was bent after I had the whole setup installed. Phoned him up and he sent out a new one straight away. NC for shipping. No whining or bitching.

I'll second that. On my '95 w/stock brake system, I couldn't bring the wheels to a lock after initiating a hard stop. I changed to an entire LS1 setup. It was a total swap out--I obtained the complete spindle, hubs, calipers + rotors and hoses. Made the job easy plus it gave me spare hubs to put away. It now stops like an '02 F Body (mainly because that was the doner car!) There are greater improvements to be had w/performance pads on this setup too!

Actually, the LS1 upgrade is quite a bit less (around $175 for an entire loaded spindle) and you can be sure you're getting quality parts from Kerry. Call him. He's got many to choose from. Lambert Auto Salvage, 2412 South 2nd St, Booneville, MS 38829; Phone 662 728 0409, Toll Free 877 728 0409

The one's I received were next to new. He sells outright too, not just ebay.

Like I said, I paid right around 200 for my setup, and I got nearly new pads, rotors etc (BG said they only had something like 6k miles on them). I bolted everything up turned the rotors and I've been driving it for over 2 years now. Used the lt1 brake hoses no problems.

Very early on, next year, the pads and rotors will be finished, particularly after I start into lapping much more often. In fact, I wouldn't go to a lapping event with what's left of the brakes because I wouldn't get a good morning out of them
