And then when you finally learn how to drive fast ... meet me here in May so you really can ! drive fast here
Pastrdcp,
That link is simply to the Silver State Classic site >silverstateclassic.com<. It works fine for me when I click on it and I would NEVER post a bogus link. Perhaps the problem is your computer ?
Or perhaps your just pissed because I posted a link to a racing site, and your obviously on here trying to push your own site ? Either way, grow up and quit trying to make it seem like I did something wrong. Members of this forum already know me, and know that I wouldn't do anything underhanded to their computers just for a kick
If this link causes any problems to anyone ELSE'S computer, let me know and I'll happily apologize and remove the link
Once again THE LINK WORKS FINE.

I've been thinking about what you're implying about me for a little while, and now I'm pissed
You guys wanna REALLY learn how to drive fast ? Here's the school I went to. The instructors are absolutely superb. They'll stuff more knowledge and ability into you in 1 day than you ever thought possible. And no I don't have any affiliation (sp?) with either one of the links that I've posted. I'm just a regular guy who's taken part in both of them and can tell you from personal experience that they're both worth your hard earned dollars. Totally unlike the thread author above who is trying to make a buck off of you!

pastrdcp, your Internet Explorer, or whatever browser your using must have been unfriendly because it is a regular old link to an open road website.
I'd like to do Silver State someday, was hoping too last year but things didn't work out.

Dr. Mudge,
Thanks for the vote of confidence here, people are so quick to bad mouth you on these forums.
If you can possibly swing it, go do the Silver State at least once. It is the most fun I've ever managed to stuff into a 3-4 day period. I went last May and am going again this coming May. I'll be meeting NataSS down there. He's navigated twice before, but this will be his first run in his own car actually driving !
I don't yet have a firm commitment lined up this year for a Navigator yet though ...... BTW, what are YOU doing May 15th through the 18th ??!!

Wow, navigator, I think I'd be nervous doing that job
Are you going to use GPS? WS6 Keith (nitrous moderator) has done it a few times, not sure if he still goes, and I know he uses/used GPS and I think last ran in the 165 class?

Of course you'd be nervous doing that job, you ARE sane right ?! lol ! .... but once you get past the "placing your life in someone else's hands" part of it, the rest is a piece of cake
I won't be using GPS. I don't really want to win that bad. I just want to have fun and go fast .... safely of course. I have 2 Robic stop watches and another stopwatch/wristwatch that I use just to make sure I'm within the speed guidelines of my class. I "accidentally" took 3rd place last May using this method
I ran in the Grand Sport Class (165 mph tech ) in the 130 mph division.
This coming May I'm going to stay in the Grand Sport Class, but will move up to the 145 or 150 mph division so I don't have to slow down so much at the end
Last May at the 60 mile mark I was averaging 152 mph
I thought I was driving conservatively too
It took the remaining 30 miles at 104 mph to get my average back down to 130. I took 3rd with a 129.917 mph average.
Anyway, if my current Navigator hope falls thru, would you be interested in something like this ?

Wow, for driving without GPS and having your average go up and down, you did great to come in 3rd! Or was it 3 people in your class?

My work schedule is pretty liberal, so it may be a good way to familiarize myself before doing it myself, I was figuring on 125 MPH class or so the first time around. I've done close to 150 before, but on a straight and very flat road, and the car was totally stable (Koni DA, lowered), but still it will take more seat time to make me feel comfortable especially for 90 miles on somewhat unfamiliar terrain.
I know they only force you to do the course familiarization/'walk over' your first time out, are you going to do it anyway? If your hopefull falls though, I could make myself available, and see if I'd have what it takes to do the job right, because I truly dont know the whole schebang from start to finish. I've read the basic layout once last year on what each turn entails (there is one scary turn as I recall, kinda blind, off camber, through a canyon?). I'll paruse the site again to check things out.
One thing that definately holds true though, high speeds over longer periods of time starts to feel normal!
