Koni adjusting

Need some information on adjusting the front Koni SA. I adjusted the rear one full turn from complete soft. I counted 2.5 rotations to full firm.

Now the fronts. What is the trick. I have heard of the 2.5 Allen wrench. I wound up using a straight Jewelers screwdriver. I was able to adjust both sides using the Jewelers screwdriver after inserting it in the hole and turning and then in the next hole for a rotation that consisted of three holes rotated from complete soft.

Afterwards the Jewelers screwdriver was very bent, but did the trick. I think I will just pick me up a few sets to have around whenever I start dialing it in at the track.

I will be running this 96 Camaro at TWS which is 2.9 miles and 15 turns. Give me an idea as to where I should start the settings for the track. My gut tells me to start at full soft in the rear and at 50% for the front. I still have the stock sway bars at this time.

Also, how much negative camber did I pick up by dropping the car with the Eibach Pro-Kit?

Thanks

What is a jeweler's screwdriver and where can I get one? I lost three 3/32 allen wrenchs trying to adjust my Koni SA's on Saturday. I got pissed off and gave up.

For my doubles, I use a coathanger on the rebound adjustment, if you can find a long awl maybe that would work.

For the fronts i went to Home Depot and got a good sized cotter pin. it's just about the perfect size, and i bent it like an L at the bottom to get into the adjuster easily.

i think 50% would be way too soft for road racing. on the street, i get all kinds of lean in corners at 6 sweeps from full soft (60% full hard), but i need it for ride comfort.

for autox, i was running 9-9.5 sweeps (i got about 10.5 sweeps from full soft to full hard), but is just too punishing on the street. very little lean in turning though. also have Eibach Pro Kit.

Mr. Big,

Help me here. how much is a "Sweep". I believe I got 2.5 rotations out of the back between full soft and full hard.

Thanks

oh sorry, i'm talking about front koni rebound adj

the little holes that turn left to right are 1 sweep. mine have 10-10.5 sweeps from full soft to full hard.

the rears are 2.5 **** turns from full soft to full hard, 1/4 turn on the rears = 1 'sweep' on the front

i agree w/ the other post: start full soft in rear and 50% hard up front and adj up from there.

adj the rears in 1/4 turn increments. back off when you get wheelspin or less grip. do you have front konis?

I did go with the front Koni's.

I think I got it now. So when adjusting the fronts I adjust through the window moving one hole at a time represents one "sweep". I have only went three sweeps from full soft. I will have to go 5 sweeps to be at 50%. I will start from there on the fronts.

Thanks for the help!

That's why I sold my Koni's and bought HAL shocks instead.

Much happier now!
