Post First Solo II outing...

Well I drove down to Sayre PA to try my hand at Solo II in the Z last Sunday.

It was a hoot. I felt pretty much out of control through the whole course. It was a first gear course (maybe hit 30 in one spot), I started out with a 37.7s run and ended up with a 35.2. The low time was a S2000 that ran close to 32 flat and it seems like he barely squeaked a tire.

I left right after picking up cones but today I found out that I won my class... must be I was the only one in it. (They stuck me into E Modified due to some internal engine mods I've done, I guess there isn't an F Modified?)

There was another Z there that ran 33's... he's a board member but I forget his screen name, he was hooking up a LOT better than I was, or maybe he was driving smoother , but he looked a lot less tail happy than I felt I was. If he'd been running sticky tires I imagine he might have give the Honda's a run.

Now I'm looking for:
A-more camber (the other F-body guy had a TON)
B-Sticky tires
C-LOTS more experience (probably the real problem)

The letters aren't uniform at all when you go from stock to modified.

The really fast guys know that oversteer isn't the hot setup. Many here would be surprised at the size (small) of their rear antiroll bars.

Woohoo, I'm considered one of the fast guys now

For the record, Dave - I don't think that the rear was planted at any point on that course. It was bumpy and dusty...

I was also close to hitting the rev limiter between the slalom and the first 180...but yeah, the tires are working great.

You might want to try getting that huge rear sway off first before the camber and sticky tires - I think you'd find that you'd benefit a lot from that.

Regardless, you did pretty darn well - 35.2 is great for a first time out! My 33's weren't clean runs, so my best ended up a 34.0 Stupid cones too...oh well.

Skip in his yellow S2K is just plain sick. I _think_ I beat the red one...

Oh well...next time. Glad to see you enjoyed it! Was wondering if you were going to post

Look forward to racing with ya again (and yah, the classification in EM was bogus, but hell, it doesn't really matter at this point)...
