Post few tid bits

Ran SM in the 'ole Z28 last weekend. was way outclassed (3700lbs and 300hp, damn stock motor).. vs 3150lb supra with 500rw, and a WRX with 380ground HP. There were many other cars there, but these were the 2 that beat me

I ended up 3rd at the SCCA divisional, after day one .027 behind the leader, after day 2(and a faster course..) I was .2 out of the lead. had a just been a few hundred pounds lighter(easy to do.. I have a heavy stereo and cage) or a little more HP(anything but a stock motor) i think I could have won. note: neither of the above cars that beat me drove to the track.. neither had AC, etc.

my setup includes:
front:
Strano revalve bilstiens
600 straight rate springs
stock bar
-1.5 camber
+4.5 caster
no toe

rear:
stock HD bilstiens
pro kit springs
stock bar
LCA drop brackets, LCA in the "upper" hole
LG Motorsports "G2" spherical bearing LCAs(these ROCK!!!.. no more poly BIND!)
LG motorsports "G2" PHR(again, spherical bearing.. I *really* like these parts).

car has a slight understeer, and a little too slow weight transfer. I think I am gonna swap to 1LE sway bars, and go to a straight rate rear spring.. prolly a 175lb. should cure the understeer.

Moral of the story.. many people don't think the fbody is competitive in SM.. i think it is. imagine if I had my car in the 3200lb range(easily possible with in the rules). it woulda been ugly! I was also on 265mm kuhmos.. I believe that 315s all the way around(what I a normally race on..) would have helped handle my "heft" better also

I recently switched to the LG rear parts from another companies poly bushed piecse. I like these much better, the rear end is much more planted over bumps, and LG uses nice spherical bearings.. road noise was only increased slightly. I can't wait to save some $$ and install some front LCAs with spherical bearings.

just thought I would share my suspension setup, and where I am going with it.. few things I have learned.

Thanks a lot for sharing, I am goint to be racing in the SM class for the first time this Saturday, I usually race in ESPT or stock. My only mods are a ram air hood and air box, G2 sway bars and strut tower brace and SLP subframes. I thought I would be getting beat really bad but the more I hear the more I feel confident that I can pull close to all these little foreign cars, my major handicap is that I am running stock tires on my stock 16" rims. How do you think I will compare in SM? I am hoping not to get embarrassed too bad, my LS1 makes good torque so I am quicker on the straights than most cars even with 580hp. Do you have any suggestions for racing my almost stock f-body in SM?

awesome! I love these cars.. It has its faults, but it always seems, a good setup and a good driver, you can be a thorn in the side of high $$$ and dedicated cars and drivers!

Sweet vehicles and cute gf btw!

well ****, that's impressive. I've always thought the stock Torque would Brake under that much load.

Thumbs up

Cool stuff Jordon, thanks for posting it.

Hehe, I noticed the LS1.com guys aren't saying much in your thread over there. Perhaps your sig has something to do with it?

Edit: Mispelled your name (again)!!
