D.O.T. Race Tire impressions

Howdy all..just wondering if anyone has used the new Nitto RR tires. I have used Hoosiers for a few years and been happy with them, but thought about using the new Nitto tires. Anyone used them?

I have been using them for the past year, and just bought my third set. I mainly use them for street tires, but have drag raced, autocrossed and road raced on them. They are very close to, but not quite, Victoracers. The trick to the 555RII is the tire pressure. They seem to like 27/32 for autox and street, and not much more for road racing (don't remember hot pressure, but they were 23/27 cold). Run too much pressure and they will burn up.

They will not stick like Hoosiers, but they will last the lifetime of several sets of Hoosiers. My first set had 30 some autox runs, >15 dragstrip passes, a couple sessions on a road course and over 10K street miles. The other grea thing about them is that they age much better than other R compounds.

Treadwear on both the 555R and 555RII is 100.

I think that that is the only size offered, which makes them techincally illegal for SCCA use. At least they finally added the RII to their website. As of a couple months ago they had nothing about them listed.
