I always heard people say finding the right seating angle helps alot.
So what works best, more of a strait up stance, should i sit lower or higher?
Im 6ft 280lbs, so i cant sit too close to the dash, but i know i should sit pretty upright for good control & view of whats going on.

Use this as a guide:
Sitting all the way against the seat, put your thumbs together and put your hands above the steering wheel. Your wrists should touch the top of the wheel about where your wristwatch should be. From there, adjust the bottom half of your body to your liking.
I am 6'2" and 200 lbs. Both of my knees touch the dash. Sounds bad but I am in complete command of the car.

For autocross, sitting upright in our cars helps you see the front edges of the car. Make sure you don't sit so close that you can't effectively move your arms and hands in quick steering moves. This is not NASCAR, you actually have to turn the steering wheel!
For me it's always been a balance of what I can do to keep my helmet from rubbing the headliner (hardtop). Sit closer than you normally do and follow the aformentioned wrist rule. It's also good to be somewhat upright but I have issues doing that b/c of clearance.
At 6' 4" and 220, I fight the head clearance too.
I ease the seat back(hmm, sounds like a VH song) until I have head clearance, and slide the seat forward to give me reach.
This means my knees rub the dash too, but I am comfortable.....

I'm ~6'3" 200lbs. This is what I try to achieve through the various levers:
- Wrists on top of steering wheel at full arm extension
- Right elbow is at no more than a 90* angle when my hand is on the manual shifter and in an even-numbered gear. Try to find balance between this and having my arm at full extension into the odd gears. Helps me prevent misshifts (holdover technique from the stock shifter).
- Seat is tilted so that when I depress the clutch, the bottom of my left thigh doesn't interfere with the seat cushion.
- Tilt seatback & height to minimize helmet interference with my T-tops.
- For the clutch, I tend to keep my heel on the carpet and use it as a pivot. I try to keep my toes near the center of the pedal - otherwise they get caught between the pedal and IC panel
I have an adjustable master cylinder I should really adjust. I've thought about a different style of shoes or driving without shoes as well.
- Passenger seat is moved all the way back to increase out that window.
- Manual shifting: 1-2 -> pistol grip (thumb up, palm facing steering wheel); 2-3 -> reverse pistol (thumb down, palm facing third); 3-4 -> palm down.
