are 4.10 gears going to kill my road course times?

my current mods are in my sig, and i don't plan on having much more horsepower in the future than i'm currently making now, however i will probably do the Dynamic Motorsports STB, SFC, LCA, PHR, and urethane bushings to help out the suspension. i am wanting to get 4.10 gears put in the car to help the straightline performance, but i live in the Smoky Mountains and all the roads are very curvy (which is very fun ) and i don't want to kill my ability to come out of corners hard. i want my car to perform well in road AND drag racing. if i feather the gas when exiting a curve will wheelspin/oversteer be a major problem for me?
i'm not going to waste the money going from a 3.42 to a 3.73 since i'm not using a power adder. it's either 4.10's or stock, no inbetween. as long as the 4.10 won't completely kill my ability to come out of a corner well, i'm going with it.
any help/experience is appreciated! thanks.

The gist of what you are asking is whether or not the rear wheel torque multiplication effect realized by the deeper rear end gear will cause you wheelspin coming out of corners, right? Well, that is going to depend on what corner you are talking about and what gear you are in on corner exit. On a road racing course, I can get wheel spin (if I want to) on some corner exits with my stock 3.42's. From there, depending on the corning, I can floor it or I have to progressively feed the throttle to the floor to avoid wheel spin.

If I were you, I wou go here:

and play around with the first calculation.

I would punch in my current setup and get some speeds that you think you will be running using the current setup numbers. Then, I'd put in the 4.11 gear and re-calculate, fiddling the rpms to see what rpm/gear you would be in with the 4.11's.

No, it will not hurt. It will have no effect on your cornering speed, only what gear you are in, and you will accelerate faster between corners.
The only time a higher gear will hurt is if you run out of rpm/speed by the end of the longest straight.

I read this thread and had to comment after going from 3.92s to 3.54s in my road race car. Wheelspin on corner exit is a lot easier for me to control with the taller gearset (3.54s). You'll have to use more gentle throttle on corner exit with 4.10s. I would suggest getting serious with a good posi like the Zexel Torsen T2R to help you keep hooked up if you do go to 4.10s.

Things are going to be different for your top end - I am running a T5 though, and don't have the luxury of a 5th gear that does anything (mine's 1:1). Your 5th is still pulling when mine is not, so you are not in the dreaded *not pulling anymore*
zone for the most part. I'm not sure what ratio your 6th gear is.

I am fuzzy on why you would not choose 3.73s. I am switching to them next season. You would sure enjoy them more than 3.42s. From a durability standpoint there are less teeth in a 3.73 gearset than a 4.10 gearset too.

Some food for thought!
