One difference is in the width.... stock SS wheels are 17x9", the Corvette ZR1's are 17x9.5". And the "offsets" are different. But if you just mean the physical appearance they are basically the same.
This page shows a set of wheels I sold for a friend a while back... the front's are genuine GM SS wheels (narrowed to 17x6") and the backs are genuine GM Grand Sport 17x11's, painted to match the 30th SS wheels.

Fred, sorry sorry for the cross post, but what is your opinion on widening a stock wheel. I want some 17x11's but don't see anything I like and can afford. I'm thinking about having a set of WS6 wheels widened. That way I keep my stock look and have more tire in the rear.
If you like the wheels you have, widening seems to work. Keith as WS6.com runs high speed public road racing, so I assume that he is satisfied with the wheels he had widened to 17x11, and the required spacers.
Aesthetically, you could argue that by widening a 17x9 wheel, and having the add the 2" in the back, then having to use a spacer to keep the wheel off the LCA's will leave you with a "flat" looking wheel. But that's your personal preference. You just need to understand that you aren't going to get a "deep" look to the widened wheels.
The guy that Keith lists in his online article was the same shop that narrowed the SS wheels in my pictures, and I was extremely impressed with the quality of the work.
