ZL1 Rear Panel

Hey everyone,

I am trying to decide if i should buy another rear panel to paint black like the ZL1 or to just sand down the one that comes on the car. I have a red Z28 and was wondering that color black would look good on the car. I want it to look like that Berger. Also does ne1 know how much it would cost to have the one I have sanded and painted?

thanks

The Berger SS's have the black panels, not the ZL1s. I think anyways. Definitely don't go flat black, you'll want it to be glossy.

Hmm... never realized it was flat black. If I were to do it, I would get it clearcoated.

not my kind of appearance mod..but it doesn't look too bad
to each his own

and i side with ibanez6rg, go clearcoat definately
i myself would maybe rather have glossy black, but it should look pretty good with flat black clearcoated imo

show us some pics when you do it though

Here's what it'd look like glossy black (and the CAMARO letters filled in).

Its not flat black. It's not gloss black. My friend owns a 2000 Berger SS #27. Its Semi-gloss I double checked it too. It definitely has a matte finish to it.

IMHO, I think it would look nice if done in gloss black. Definitely would be cool regardless though.

Sorry this is kinda off topic, but SuperDave479, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I saw your F-Body Wallpapers page.

I'd buy another one and keep the stock one. In fact, thats what I did. You can pick up a rear panel for cheap on eBay. I'm having mine done matte black with the body color letters (bright teal metallic) and a 69 Z/28 badge.

If you want it to be like the Berger, get the flat black. IMO, the glossy ones look bad to me because I know they're going for the Berger look, and didn't use the right kind of paint...a non glossy flat kind. And don't clearcoat it, it'll give it shine.

But will flat black hold up to carwashes, spots of wax from waxing areas close, and the like without clearcoat.
