Z28 emblems, where to buy?
Z28 emblems, where to buy?
I was wondering if someone could tell me the best place to buy Z28 emblems for the fenders. I plan on taking my current ones off and replacing them with 1968/69 stlye Z28 emblems. I have done some searching and found a few, but they are wanting $30 a piece! Thanks guys.
$30 each is pretty cheap.
Two things to note, first you'll want to get the emblems for the rear deck lid ('68) or rear panel ('69) and not the fender emblems. The Fender emblems are curved to match the first gen fenders whereas the rear deck/panel emblems will mount to any flat surface.
Second, the '68 and '69 emblems are not the same. They are slightly different. (i.e font style is different).
Yearone or Classic Industries also carry them.

I got mine from www.yearone.com they were about $35 each but were OEM replacement in GM boxes. They are curved as earlier described, and you just need to flatten them out a little and cut the posts off the back. (unless you want to drill holes in your car)
I used 3M double sided trim tape and they are on for LIFE. I get many comments about my emblems.

Thanks for the help guys!! JETMAN95Z28, you car look very nice with those emblems. You did almost exactly what I am planning on doing. I was thinking of putting the old style of "350" emblem on the back.
(Wife just walked in and saw that I was going to spend at least $30 a piece for these things. "You are going spend that much on THOSE!?! blah blah blah......you love that car more than me! blah blah blah...."
I was thinking, my car never bitches, talks back, denies me pleasure or buys stupid girly stuff all the time.)

LOL!!!
That car looks very nice with those emblems, I thought about doing that on my car but was too cheap! I walked a whole swap meet looking for them used, but only found 1, so I didn't buy it!

Here's a link to the page where I got mine. They admittedly arent cheap but are 1st class quality. They are chrome trimmed, with nicely painted red "Z" and silver "28". I smashed them in a vise (inside a leather work glove) banged on them with a hammer and
2x4 on the cement floor to "finish" them up to match the curve of the fenders. (high tech huh) When I was done banging and smashing the OEM curves out on all 3 emblems they all still look PERFECT. Very high quality pieces.
P.S. my wife said much the same thing as your wife did after I told her I ordered them. She did admit it did look much nicer with the 69 emblems than the factory black emblems on a black car. Luckily she really doesn't say much about what I do to my car.

Just a note about what jg95z28 said: The fender badges are curved, but the rear badge is larger than the fender badges. Here's a link to how I did mine using the fender badges on the fenders.

Thanks for the info phil46y, I will see if I can get 2 emblems made for the rear of the '69 and put them on the fenders of my '93. Then I will get 1 side emblem for a '69 and put that on the back of my 93. I will only have to flatten one emblem and cut a little off one. Thanks again.

got the part numbers and low prices
I did some searching on ebay and found a chevy dealer listing A LOT of GM parts. Anyway, they have a web site with a page dedicated to the restoration of GM cars. http://www.greenwoodchevy.com/restoration.htm
They list the GM part numbers to the emblems along with their price. (it lists a lot of different items for many cars) I took thier part numbers and went to gmpartsdirect to see what they sell them for. Check this out. BTW this for the 1969 Camaro, '68 are a little cheaper.
Z/28 emblem for rear trunks lid- $21.58 vs. $31 Greenwood chevy (GM list is $36) part #8701333
Z/28 emblem for fenders- $22.20 vs. GM list of #37.62 part # 3957935
350 emblem for fenders-$13.02 vs. GM list of $22.07 part #3953627
