'Dents' in Camaro taillights?

Well when I took my blackouts off my 3.4 and put them on the Z i noticed the taillights on the 3.4 had a dent in each one (below the backup light and just to the side). They are really noticable if you look at it. I haven't checked to see if the Z has them yet. I just can't understand if it didn't come from the factory like that how did they get there

How did they get there? HEAT. The tail light covers trap the heat in. The heat from the bulbs in conjunction with the tail light covers is what is causing this "dent". If you look at the dent in your lights you'll see it is directly in front of a bulb. Solution... put the tail light covers back on

Yeah, a pair that I bought on eBay had those to, but they were only $15 shipped, so no complaining. I heard that with the blackouts on, there is no way for the heat from the lights to escape, just a thought, but maybe that is why. It gets real hot, and starts to melt the plastic just enough to deform. If you push on a taillight hard, it won't dent, it will break, so that is my idea.

Thanks for the replies guys. Heat would probably be the last thing I would have thought of. Those brake lights must get really hot!
