You thinking of putting 1st Gen emblems on?

I did some searching on ebay and found a chevy dealer listing A LOT of GM parts. Anyway, they have a web site with a page dedicated to the restoration of GM cars. http://www.greenwoodchevy.com/restoration.htm
They list the GM part numbers to the emblems along with their price. (it lists a lot of different items for many cars) I took thier part numbers and went to gmpartsdirect to see what they sell them for. Check this out. BTW this for the 1969 Camaro, '68 are a little cheaper but not by much.
Z/28 emblem for rear trunks lid- $21.58 vs. $31 Greenwood chevy (GM list is $36) part #8701333
Z/28 emblem for fenders- $22.20 vs. GM list of #37.62 part # 3957935
350 emblem for fenders-$13.02 vs. GM list of $22.07 part #3953627

These price are better than yearone.com and a few other sites I have been on.

I just won an auction from them for the '69 Z/28 deck emblem. I haven't received it yet, but I'll let you know how it works out.

Incidentally, their list price on that part is actually $31.77.

I did some checking and found a Chevy dealer in Oregon that will sell these things at a pretty good price. gmpartsdirect is a little too high on shipping & handling charges. Here is their info: Romania Chevrolet, chevypartsguys@yahoo.com (Steve is the guy you need to talk to) 800-452-5059 is the phone. They also do business on ebay (something like 135 items on ebay right now)
Rear emblem $30 each, fender emblems $29, 350 emblem $17 and shipping & handling was just $5.00 for it all. He has it all in stock and ships same day. The prices may be beaten a little by someone else but since it is a GM dealer, customer service is usually better and the confidence of not being ripped off counts for a lot. Hope this helps you guys out. I will try and get some pictures after I am done. I am putting 1969 rear deck emblems on my fenders, 1969 front fender emblem on back right and 350 on back left (I may switch, don't know yet) If you use this guy, have part numbers on hand, it goes much smoother. I used http://www.greenwoodchevy.com/restoration.htm to get part numbers and they have pictures of everything too.

Well it came... and even though its OEM GM, the "28" wasn't painted white as it should have been!

Buyer beware! http://greenwoodchevy.com/Merchant2/...t_Code=8701333

Actually for what I'm using it for, it'll still work.

I just recieved my emblems today and they were not white in the "28" part. The 350 emblem was white however. I did have some white touch-up paint for the wife's honda so I had my wife paint the 28 part on all three. It looks VERY nice, very bright white only problem is it didn't mach the 350; so she painted that too. Another thing for you guys to be ready for, the back emblems for the 69 Z28 is not filled on the back side it. (hollow I guess you could say) It truly is raised letters. The side emblems are solid though. I used sylicon to fill in the back of the emblems to have more suface contact for the mounting tape. I guess JB weld would work too, but I have never used the stuff and didn't know how well it sticks to metal.

I will have old style Z/28 emblems on the side, one on the back right and a 350 on the back left. If I were to do it again, I think I would put the 350 emblems under the Z/28 on the side and just have Z/28 emblem on the back and maybe a LT-1 emblem on the other side in the back. A cowl induction hood would be nice, the 350 could go on the side of the raised part. It gets pricey though for this stuff and I think I will be happy with what I have.

I will get some pictures to show how it looks if someone could host them for me. Anyone willing to do that please?

I have the GM OEM replacements (from yearone.com) on my car and if you look close the "28" is painted a light silver color, not white. I check a buddies TRUE '69 Z/28 and he said his was the same way. I always thought they were white too..... until I bought a set. From a distance they really don't look silver though. Look at my pics in the sig and you'll see what I mean.

I did some looking on the web and found some unrestored 69 Z/28s and they were not white either. I think it looks better painted white though.
