Winterizing!!!
Winterizing!!!
well guys,
as much as I tried to avoid it, I must drive my camaro in the winter and store the trans am But the really bad part is that I don't have a garage that I can put it in, so I have to store it outside in the driveway.
So far I've thought up these steps to help winterize it
*Put rims on it with crappy tires so they don't get flat bottoms
*Disconnect negative battery cable
*Wash/Wax the hell outa it
*Bought an (expensive) car cover that says it will protect against any weather
*Bought some "Sta-Bil fogging oil and cylinder protector". They said at autozone that if I take out each plug and spray this in, it'll protect for the whole winter outside. ???
*WD-40 all hinges and latches and spray some in each exhaust pipe.
if anyone has any other idea's I would GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks a lot

Re: Winterizing!!!
Use a sealant instead of a wax, and do layers. Here is a link to several sealants: http://autogeek.net/was.html And here is an explination about sealants vs wax http://autogeek.net/qude101.html
Hope that helps.
You also might want to start it up every couple of weeks too.

Re: Winterizing!!!
i think he meant you will have a bad spring (as in when you start driving it) because if you disconnect the batt. an you dont have the code to unlock the stock radio in the car it will lock you out.
- did you treat the gas for the car? unless you start it up every other week or so. i forgot to do it in my bike the one year an i hadda flush the system out cuz the gas went bad. but that was from like october til april so its a lil longer then now.
- if you have a leather interior it wouldnt hurt to clean an condition it because the cold weather is going to make it stiff as hell.
- if your car cover doesnt go to the ground an cover the tires get something to cover the tires, your rotors an calipers will thank you in the spring when they arent rusted together from oxidation.

Re: Winterizing!!!
Yeah, if you have the stock radio/stereo and you disconnect the negative battery cable without having the code to unlock the radio handy, your radio will say "LOC" or something and you'll have to have the Chevy dealership unlock it for you.
Maybe you could just rent a storage thing or garage for the winter? It might be cheaper or easier than doing all this preparation.
