Angry Windshield Cracked While Washing Car! grrr

Dont beleive it? Well you should. Just started to hose down the car, heard a 'thud' if you will, I assumed it was the hose hitting the bucket of soapy water... until I took the sponge to the windshield... freaking crack from bottom center that curled around to almost the top. I dunno if it was a freak accident, but i just dropped mondo cash for a coil setup, and now i gotta replace my windshield.

warning for those who wash with hose water on a 70 degree day....

GRRR so pissed right now... now i gotta drop freakin moolah again for some reason that shouldnt be

Yeah, ive got full coverage... however i never have gone through my insurance company for any problems except my first... which jacked my rate up almost 200%... so i stay away from them now. I can get it replaced for 250, includes labor, window, and trim mouldings... so thats less than my deductable... oh well. I did have some fun with it tho. After i started to crack i took it out for a lil run... lol finished off the windshield.. now it goes from middle bottom, across to top drivers, and all the way across the top tint to the passenger pillar! w00t!... thats body flex!

You should check and see if you have a special "winndshield" coverage. I have that with my insurance company which only requires a $100 deductable and doesn't affect my rate whatsoever. My regular deductable is way more than that.

I don't know how things work in Illinois, but here in SC, if you have full coverage, insurance is required to cover the replacement of your windshield with no out of pocket expense to you. I have had a windshield replaced on two of my cars and it hasn't cost me yet. Rates did not go up either; actually, I think this kind of coverage is included in the rate. Check with your insurance and see if there is something similar in Ill.

I wash my car with hot water through our hose, whoever had the house built was a freak about his cars and had a hose with hot and cold water put in the garage... kinda nice though.

Damn was this today? I washed my car today as well, but partially in the shade. Was your car baking in the sun before you washed it?

I cant even imagine how angry, frustrated and just plain sad I would be if that happened.

It did hail last night over here, I wonder if that had anything to do with it?

Actually this happened the day before that... however the hail would explain how it cracked more from just sitting overnight lol

OMG!!!!!!!!

I thought I was the only one. I was washing my car in the sunlight at about 80 degree weather. I put the soap on and started rinsing it off, then... Crack, I did'nt know what it was until I heard it again and looked at the windshield. A full crack from bottom to top, talk about mad!!!! I did'nt think my insurance would cover that because they wont cover anything!!! Even though I have a full warranty. I tried to get my O2's and ignition ciols replaced when they went out (since they are covered under the warranty) but they told me it was a $200 deductible for each O2 and coil. How does that make sense? When I can get a full tune-up for $250 from them? But separately I'm gonna have to pay $1000 for coils and O2's. Bill Heard Chevrolet is tripping hard and I'm about to go laywer on them lol.

sorry bout the window, let me know if the insurance covers it, I have full coverage too.
