Re: Window Tint: How dark is too dark?

Tint and getting hassled I find has a LOT to do with the type of car and who is driving. I hear of TONS of local kids both import and domestic drivers who get these tickets all the time for stuff like this and other "judgemental" stuff...

I guess I just look/act too old, and the cops don't bug me, honestly, I've gone by cops at dusk, at full throttle (True duals out the sides; thus loud), with parking/driving lights on, the LEDs in my hood intake turned on (Red glowing intake), and the windows 50% up; he looked knoded his head and drove off... *Shrugs*

that's exactly why I hate these laws. If they're going to give me a ticket but not someone else with much darker tint than me, it's discrimination on age, and in my opinion legal action should be taken against them for such.

i have had 5% all the way around for 5 years. I have only been given a warning once, no ticket. I love how dark it is. I don't think it is as bad at night as most people say. You can't see inside it from the outside during the day.

Re: Window Tint: How dark is too dark?

ok here's my story...i was driving through downtown ruston (college town) at 8:30 just cruising. the windows were up, i was at a reasonable RPM (2500) and i passed by the pig...i mean police station. i saw the porker standing beside is car (station is half a block from the road i was on) didn't think anything of it cause i wasn't doing anything illegal. go down 2 1/2 more blocks and see a car move over behind me on my ***, then come the blue lights...he takes like 5 mins to get to my car then he asks me if i knew why he pulled me over...of course i had no idea...he says my tints too dark and tells me to roll it up a little and puts an electronic meter on it...takes 15 mins to write me a ticket after he asked my address, home phone, cell phone, where i was going blah blah blah...my point is it was harrassment chasing me down for window tint...but it's summer time now so the windows will be down 95% of the time anyway so it's good...hopefully

No it isn't. 20% is legal in Texas. http://www.textint.com/_Main_Pages/_...ection_pg1.htm

The trick is to have 2 F-bodies that are the same colour. One tinted, one not.

Re: Window Tint: How dark is too dark?

huh.....I've never had a problem ever. On my old 00' WS6 I had 20% all the way around and never was bother once by the cops. That goes for my dads 04' Mystic Chrome Cobra also which is 20% all around.

Next month I plan on getting the windows tinted on the Hawk. Going to go the same as I did before 20% all around.

My mistake then. I had this done a couple of years ago and the 20% stuck in my head. I must have 15% and 5%, because I went one shade darker than legal. Looks really good on the white car, and not much concern becuase the top and windows are down 99% of the time.

I have 20% on the windows & 5% on the back. When you get it done, the tint shop should put a small sticker on the windows syaing the tint is legal.

Hasnt any1 heard of getting a doctors note that says something about having light sensative eyes?? I remember someone telling me that they did that once and it worked, but it has to be a real doctor cause theyll check maybe. Also, at nite, just turn your interior light on, and roll your winders down pretend your lookin for something...light inside will make the tinted aspect go away, unless of course your at 5% but even then it would help. I think it quite rediculous we cant have tints on lowered cars, when fricken euro cars, and SUVs blind the **** out of you.

There was a black Celica in town that had triple 5% (or was it 2%?). Damn that thing looked good.

He had a skin condition and couldn't be in the sun.

I'm not 100% sure the above story was true, but several people told me the same story and the only two times I ever saw him with his windows down was at night (I saw him quite a bit, too).
