Has anyone installed polarizing window film on their windshield?

I am curious if that is against the law or not? i would think it wouldn't because it would reduce the glare coming off of the dash???

i know its illegal here in mass.....but dunno bout where you are...if you call a tint place and ask they might tell you if it is or isnt...but who knows they might say yes to get your money

 

If your talking about tinting the whole windshield then yes I'm pretty sure it is illegal. You can only tint to the mark on the top corner of your windshield, nothing lower. Now your state and city may be more lenient on there laws as far as how far down you can come, but here in KY, if ur barley below the mark, you get ticketed. I know I'm a victim

 

friend of mine tinted about 1" below his tint line, i think he passed though with a $20 handshake.

 

No no no...i'm talking about the CLEAR window film that helps reduce glare....not tinted...sheesh...i know that tinting the front is illegal...so are the side windows in my state...but i can black out the back one no prob...as dark as i want it as long as i can still see thru it.... 2.5% anyone? hehe....

but no the clear on the front. WEEE!!!

 

Best way to find out is to call your local DPS and ask.

You can tint the side windows in Iowa. But the legal limit is 70%. I just had mine tinted 50% on the sides and 5% in the back....no problems yet

How does that 50% look on the sides? where did you get yours done? did they do a good job? how much did you pay? and do they have 2.5%? that's what i want on the back....you can get it as dark as you want int he back as long as you can still see thru it....at least that's what the cop that pulled me over for not having a license plate on the front said.....:P

 

I got mine done in a place in Des Moines. It cost me $132.50 and that was with a 1 piece rear. It came out good, but not perfect. He also doesn't do the black vinal for the dot matrix at the top of the back window....so that part is screwed up on mine. (Just need to put black vinal instead of tint.) I'm going home this weekend and I could look up the companies name if you would like. Also just PM me if you want some pictures of the 50% tint.
